Chapter 137 - A Name Revealed

The morning prayer set the tone for the day, filling the grand hall with a serene reverence. Sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows of Saint Michael Religious Academy as students, faculty, and distinguished guests gathered for the grand result ceremony. The air was thick with anticipation, a blend of excitement and nervous energy.

Sister Alex took the stage, her calm yet authoritative presence commanding the audience's attention. She was both the host and the event's comparer, guiding the program with eloquence and grace. The ceremony commenced with a series of rhymes and speeches, each one praising the dedication and faith of the graduating students.

Among the speakers were members of Rose Village, the local community that had long supported the academy. Their words were filled with warmth and encouragement, emphasizing the importance of faith, perseverance, and service to others. Seated on the stage, the VIP guests—Father Leonard, Sister Susan, and Father David—watched with approving smiles. The table before them was adorned with fresh flowers and crystal-clear water bottles, a symbol of hospitality and honor.

After an hour of heartfelt speeches and hymns, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived—the prize distribution ceremony. The tension in the room grew palpable as Sister Alex held a golden envelope in her hands, ready to announce the top achievers.

"And now, we recognize the five highest-ranking students of this year's graduating class," Sister Alex announced, her voice echoing through the hall.

Polite applause filled the room as the names were called one by one.

"In fifth place, we have Sister Jessica!"

Jessica walked onto the stage, gracefully accepting her certificate with a modest bow.

"In fourth place, Sister Fiona!"

Fiona beamed with pride, shaking hands with the faculty as she took her award.

"In third place, Sister Elizabeth!"

Elizabeth's face lit up as she accepted her certificate, a proud yet humble smile gracing her lips.

"In second place, Sister Catherine!"

The room erupted in applause as Catherine walked up to the stage. She turned briefly to her friends, offering a subtle nod before accepting her award.

Sister Alex paused, allowing the excitement to settle before announcing the top achiever.

"And finally, the highest honor of this academic year—the first position—goes to Sister Maria!"

The hall broke into thunderous applause. Maryam stood up slowly, her heart pounding. She felt Catherine squeeze her hand reassuringly before letting go. With steady steps, she made her way to the stage.

As she reached the podium, she took a deep breath and began to speak. "I am deeply honored to receive this award today. My journey here at Saint Michael Religious Academy has been one of learning, growth, and—"

"Maryam!" Catherine's voice rang out, loud and clear, cutting through the applause like a knife.

A stunned silence fell over the hall.

Maryam froze, her fingers tightening around the certificate she held. Her heart pounded wildly as the reality of the moment sank in. The name Catherine had called her—the name she had hidden—was now exposed before the entire assembly.

Gasps rippled through the audience. Father Robert's face darkened, while Sister Susan exchanged uneasy glances with Father Leonard and Father David. The students in the crowd whispered among themselves, confusion and curiosity evident in their eyes.

Maryam turned slowly, her gaze meeting Catherine's. In her friend's eyes, she saw not betrayal, but defiance—a silent urging that the truth could no longer be hidden.

Realizing there was no turning back, Maryam straightened her posture and faced the microphone once more. With a deep breath, she steadied herself and spoke the words that would change everything.

"Yes, my name is Maryam," she said, her voice unwavering. "And there is something I need to tell you all."

The hall remained silent, awaiting her next words, as Maryam prepared to reveal her truth to the world.
