Chapter 7 - Preparations

"... Wait, aren't you married?" King asked, looking at Kayden and Aster playing with the shelter dogs.

"Huh? Oh, I left him." Kayden said, barely caring.

"... That's it? You 'left him'? When? Why?" King dropped the sacks of dogfood on his shoulder.

"Couple months ago, around when Fenja and Menja took Rune out here, and because I found out he was just a pretty face with fancy words." Kayden smiled, watching Aster be surrounded by the dogs, who all seemed to love the child. "Why? What's up?"

"... I only just remembered you've basically been living here for the last month. So, I kinda had to ask..." King sighed, filling up some food bowls. "Please tell me you're not thinking about staying here permanently..."

"... Are you saying I'm not allowed to stay?" Kayden asked, as she, Aster, and the dogs all stared at him.

"... Never said that... You're free to stay, since the girls made the... mansion, big enough for a lot of people." King said, as the dogs and Aster stopped looking at him.

"Ah, right... the 'Harem villa'..." Kayden said, as King stared blankly at her. "Rune's words, not mine." She chuckled.

"I ffff... I swear..." King glanced at Aster. "You... you know about what I do almost every night, right? You really want Aster exposed to that?"

"... At least Rune's there to watch Aster while I'm at the city..." She grinned. "And, It'll give the twins some experience with raising children."

"... I feel like you're a bit too... liberal, with your only child..." King chuckled, as Kayden walked over. "I can at least promise to watch Aster, when I can."

"I know you will." She said, grinning slightly. "So... Tell me... How are Jessica and Nessa in bed?" She asked, causing King to stop completely.

"... What?" King stared at her, still slightly frozen.

"I was wondering... Maybe I can sneak in your bed? To... repay you, for all you've done for us?" She said, running her finger on his shoulder.

"... You know you don't have to repay me like that, right?" King sighed, taking her hand. "I'm fine with you two staying safe."

"I know... But I want to." Kayden said, kissing his cheek. "Let's continue this after you're done with work."

"... Okay?"

"Michael?" A voice came from the main building. "You, uh... you got some guests?"

"Okay?" King looked through the window, noticing a familiar girl. "Ah... duty calls..." King grinned, kissing Kayden's hand.

----------------------------

"This is Tattletale, Grue, and Regent." Bitch said, as they sat in the guest's house of the mansion. The others looked around in no small amount of shock, knowing this was a detached building from the main one.

"Right, and how can we fuck with Hookwolf?" King asked, looking only at Bitch.

"Ah, sorry... We're not here for that." Tattletale said. "We've... we've been looking for you. Our boss wanted to get in contact with you."

"... Me? What does he want?" King looked at the girl. "Or she, I don't judge." He said, raising his hands.

"He. And we don't know." Bitch said. "He only wanted us to find you. Didn't say why."

"... Me specifically? Whose name was in the news, AND, still up on my friend's site on the internet?" King said, as they stared at him. "... I'm not really that hard to find. I didn't reach out to people, but I still have my work phone on me."

"... Do you want to meet our boss?" Bitch asked, as Grue sighed into his hand, and Regent covered his mouth to stop laughing.

"... Eh, why not." King shrugged. "Speaking of, you got a group? Why didn't you bring them to rescue the dogs?"

"Not their business." Bitch said, like it was obvious.

"Bitch is like that, don't mind her." Regent said, taking deep breathes.

"Oh, I got that. No worries." King chuckled. "Reminds me how I was before I triggered." He grinned, as Bitch stared at him intensely. "So... You guys got a number I can call? Or do you want mine?"

"We'll take yours, if that's alright." Tattletale said.

"Sure. Give me a second." King said, reaching into a nearby table. Writing down his number, he handed it over to the group. "There. That's my work phone number, so... do me a favor and treat it that way, okay? Don't call me too early or too late in the day."

"Sure thing, big man." Regent said, getting up. "Nice to see ya." He said, walking out.

"Sorry about him." Grue said, chasing after Regent.

"Thanks for giving us the time to talk." Tattletale said. "Good bye." She followed the other two, leaving Bitch in the room.

"... So..."

"You feel strong." Bitch said, standing up. "See you." She followed the others, leaving King alone in the room.

"... What?"

------------------

"Hey! Why did you guys just leave?!" Tattletale called out, as they left the mansion.

"He scares me..." Regent said, with a slight shudder.

"What?"

"Yeah. It felt like we were being stared at by a big... creature." Grue said, making a tight fist.

"Wolf. He's a wolf." Bitch corrected. "He feels stronger than before." She said, a slight smile on her face.

"What do you think?" Grue asked, looking at Tattletale.

"... He's hard to read." Tattletale said. "It really feels like looking at a wild animal, instead of a person. I can tell he's not hostile, but... I can't read him beyond that."

"Wolf." Bitch added.

"Yes, we got that." Tattletale sighed.

"... Coil's gonna flip, when they meet." Grue said.

"Think Coil's going to regret meeting him?" Regent asked.

"Oh, definitely. He might know how to control people, but he's way over his head." Grue sighed. "Not our problem."

"Hm..." Bitch let out a happy sigh, causing the others to stare at her.

"... I think Bitch might end up leaving us before that..." Tattletale whispered to the others, as they nodded.

Reason for the stop

"Fuuuuuck... I messed up my timeline... what do I do?"

"... Oh wait, this is my story, I'll just push everything back! What the hell am I worried about?"
