Some hours later...
A black SUV cut through the city like a predator in the night, its tinted windows shielding its passengers from prying eyes.
Inside, Eleanor sat stiffly beside Damon, her fingers curled into her lap, her entire body tense. The hum of the tires against the road did nothing to soothe her nerves.
She didn't want to be here.
She had tried to resist when Damon told her she was coming with him tonight, but the look in his eyes, the silent warning, had sealed her fate.
There was no escape. She was already hooked into his world, whether she wanted it or not.
Damon sat beside her, legs spread out confidently, fingers lazily tapping against his thigh. He was completely at ease, as if this was just another night out.
His arrogance was annoying Eleanor to the core.
"You're too quiet," he remarked, turning his head to glance at her but Eleanor rolled her eyes in disdain.
"I have nothing to say!" She snapped.
