"It says here there are three games: racing, sports, and combat. Only seven people can participate in the fight," Zoro said as he read through the pamphlet.
"I'll take combat," Zoro declared, but Sanji and Luffy both interjected, wanting to participate in the combat as well.
"I'll stay on the sidelines for now and provide support from there," Lucas said.
"Okay, that just leaves..." Robin began, sorting everyone out the same way as in the original story. Nami, Robin, and Usopp would participate in the race; Sanji, Chopper, and Zoro in the sports event; and Luffy in the combat.
With that settled, the first round started. The announcer took to the sky on his bird, riling up the crowd as Luffy, Sanji, and Chopper cheered their crew members on. Immediately as the race started, the Foxy Pirates, who were spectating, fired a barrage of cannons at the Straw Hats, trying to sink their barrel raft.
"Hey, that's cheating!" Luffy and Sanji cried out.
"Did you forget? This is a pirate match. Of course, there'd be interference from outsiders—that's what a pirate would do," Lucas said. Foxy himself laughed, agreeing with Lucas's remark.
"Oh yeah, if you knew that, then why don't you do something?" Sanji replied.
"I know, that's why I'm stretching my hand out," Lucas said. He used Gravattack's powers and lifted the Foxy Pirates team that was racing against the Straw Hats, keeping them suspended above the water. The Straw Hats gained the lead and sailed ahead. Foxy's face twitched with anger and nervousness.
"Huh, I wasn't planning on using this until later but..." Foxy muttered as his crew snickered, confident that their trump card would turn the tables.
"Hmmm, obviously he's referring to that slow-slow beam, but that doesn't matter. Not only can I counter it with magic, but I can also use some of my transformations," Lucas pondered as Foxy snuck up behind the cheering Straw Hats. By this time, Nami and her team had reached the crazy coral region of the island.
"Nah, that's for the captain to stress ab—" Lucas muttered softly, suddenly alert.
"Slow-slow beam!" Foxy shouted, shooting a ray from his hands directed at Lucas.
"Heh," Lucas smiled as he swiped his left hand, doing something nobody noticed. He allowed himself to be caught in Foxy's slow-slow beam, becoming still. To Foxy's surprise, Lucas's powers were still in effect. Panicking, Foxy searched for the Straw Hat team, only to be shocked as he looked at the reef.
"And we have a winner!" the announcer declared. Lucas had made a portal to teleport Nami and her team to the finish line. As Foxy's slow-slow beam wore off and Lucas could move again, he let go of Foxy's team. They were all stumped and shocked to see the first winners of the games.
Luffy ranted about Foxy's strange abilities, then happily showcased them, explaining how he could temporarily freeze time. But in the end, it didn't change the fact that the Straw Hats had won.
"How could this have happened?" the Foxy Pirates cried as Luffy and the Straw Hats laughed joyously.
"Serves you right, you cheaters," Usopp and Sanji said. After that, it was time for Luffy to claim his prize.
"So, what do you think he'll ask for?" the Straw Hats murmured among themselves.
"I've decided," Luffy said. "I want you to apologize."
"Apologize to Romad and Sherry for what you did to them," Luffy demanded, shocking everyone. Foxy, realizing Luffy was serious, went and apologized for shooting Sherry.
With that settled, it was time for the next game. "For the next Davy Back Fight, Groggy Ring...!" the announcer declared as Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper entered the field. The announcer explained the rules.
"So, ummm, which one a' yees will be the ball?" a Foxy pirate approached Zoro. Immediately, Zoro pointed towards Sanji. Despite Sanji's protests, the hat was already on his head. Foxy's team stepped onto the field, their towering presence making Chopper shiver.
"T-Th-That's a fish giant," Nami remarked, seeing the biggest member of Foxy's team, whom they called Big Bang. The Foxy Pirates cheered on.
"That truly is something. Although he looks nothing compared to pure giants," Robin observed.
The match started, and Sanji went straight for the big guy. "Slow-slow beam!" As Sanji confronted Big Bang, Foxy struck Chopper and Zoro with his slow-slow beam. Pickle charged at Zoro with his metal shoulder pads sprouting hidden spikes, while Hamburg charged at Chopper with a big metal club.
Usopp and Nami prompted the referee to call out the blatant cheating. "I, uhh, didn't see anything," the ref said, looking away. This riled up Nami and Luffy as Usopp held Luffy back from attacking the referee.
"Calm down, Luffy. You'll only make it worse," Usopp said.
"Well, if that's the case then..." Lucas said. Suddenly, a chill ran through the referee's spine. Lucas's eyes glimmered purple for a second, and a magic circle appeared above the ref.
"Huh, what was that about?" Usopp asked.
"Nothing much. I just placed him under the illusion of watching a fair match," Lucas explained.
"Isn't that helping the enemy?" Nami remarked, but Lucas simply shook his head and smiled.
"If he's seeing a fair match, then it doesn't matter what either side does," he said, turning into Clockwork.
"This one's new," Nami observed.
"Woah! So cool!" Luffy exclaimed, staring at Lucas's gears.
"Don't touch," Lucas said, moving away from Luffy. "If they'll freeze our guys, then..." he said, stretching his hand and creating two green-blue bubbles. He fired them at Hamburg and Pickle just as they were about to strike Chopper and Zoro. The bubbles made by Lucas touched them, growing to envelope them entirely and freezing them in time.
"Time bubble. Anything within that bubble will be frozen in time unless I free them," Lucas explained with his Chronosapien accent before turning back to normal. Zoro and Chopper unfroze.
"Whaaaa! That's my move! That's not fair!" Foxy exclaimed, throwing a fit. They called out to the referee, but...
"Both teams are following the rules," the ref replied.
"Just who are you working for?" Foxy exclaimed. The Foxy Pirates yelled "cheater" at the Straw Hats, seeing how they'd lose if this continued.
"Hey, Lucas!" Zoro called. "We're fine. Don't interfere any more," he said, looking serious. Lucas agreed and deactivated the time bubbles, letting the game continue. He did, however, stop Foxy and the other attempts to gain the upper hand. The match continued, somewhat following the main event, with Foxy's team constantly cheating. But eventually, Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper pulled it off and won the second round. The Foxy Pirates wallowed, unable to believe they had lost again.
