Chapter 183 - Chapter 183: Retreat

Boom~

A deafening explosion echoed through the air.

Before even approaching the battlefield, Qingming could hear the sounds of intense fighting.

In the next moment, a figure wrapped in dark red chakra burst out of the dense forest, charging straight toward him.

It was Han.

Without any hesitation, Qingming raised his hand, formed seals, and unleashed a ninjutsu he learned from Koen Shuuji—Wind Release: Blade of Wind.

A transparent wind blade, over a meter long, formed in front of his chest. He pushed with his palm, and it shot straight toward Han.

Seeing this, Han did not dodge; he continued to sprint toward Qingming.

In the next instant, the wind blade sliced into him, creating ripples across the layer of dark red chakra on his body.

Han's speed decreased as a result, but he suffered no injury whatsoever.

"Looks like it's ineffective after all," Qingming murmured.

While Wind Release: Blade of Wind had the potential to inflict damage, his current proficiency was only at level 1, making it unlikely to harm Han.

With that in mind, Qingming focused and fully activated his Sharingan.

At once, an indescribable mental pressure enveloped the area.

Sensing this mental force, Han involuntarily slowed his pace, eyeing Qingming with caution.

However, Qingming paid no mind to Han's wariness. In the moment their eyes met, he released his hypnosis technique.

It was unclear whether Han was affected by the Tailed Beast's will or some other reason, but he failed to block his line of sight in time, causing him to fall into a daze.

Roar~

Yet, with a roar from the Five-Tails, Han snapped back to reality.

Although only a perfect jinchūriki could have their Tailed Beast assist in breaking genjutsu, Han was currently in a semi-tailed beast state, with the will of the beast gradually eroding his mind. This allowed him to resist the effects of the genjutsu to some extent.

Moreover, Qingming had only used the inherent hypnotic ability of the Sharingan, not a true genjutsu.

Thus, Han easily broke free.

However, Qingming did not mind much.

He hadn't expected to take Han down so easily; he merely needed this brief opportunity.

As Han shook off the hypnosis, locking eyes with Qingming, he suddenly froze in place.

In that instant, Han felt as if his body were nailed down by massive iron spikes, unable to move an inch.

Indeed, while Han had just come to his senses, Qingming took advantage of the moment to perform the hand seals for Illusion Technique: Binding Technique.

Unlike typical genjutsu, those affected by the Illusion Technique: Binding Technique are aware they've been trapped in a genjutsu, yet find it incredibly difficult to break free.

Consequently, even though the Five-Tails could help Han to some extent, it wouldn't allow him to escape the genjutsu in an instant.

This way, Qingming could buy time for the other Konoha ninjas to arrive.

His sole purpose was to delay until the other Konoha ninjas showed up; he had never intended to hold off Han alone.

Regardless of whether he could do it, he wouldn't want to, as it would draw too much attention.

To be safe, it was best to buy time until the other Konoha ninjas arrived, so they could block Han together.

As for their location?

It was actually not far away. The exchange between him and Han, while it felt lengthy, only lasted a few seconds.

In those few seconds, the others should have reached them.

Just as Qingming was thinking this, several figures leaped out of the dense forest and into the fray.

Upon seeing Han standing frozen in place and Qingming staring at him with his Sharingan, they immediately understood the situation.

Without hesitation, they launched their attacks at Han.

They divided their tasks clearly: two of them performed binding techniques to prevent Han from fleeing again and targeting the main force, while three others formed seals to prepare offensive jutsu, hoping to break through Han's Tailed Beast armor and inflict damage.

The last one quickly threw kunai and wires, physically restraining Han's movements.

Moreover, Qingming noticed that the wires and kunai were covered in numerous explosive tags, clearly set up for a massive attack.

Han recognized the danger. Although he could ignore many attacks due to his Tailed Beast armor, he couldn't just stand there and let them hit him.

Realizing the threat, Han stopped resisting the encroachment of the Tailed Beast's will.

Instantly, a denser layer of Tailed Beast chakra emerged from his body, and the two tails behind him transformed into three in an extremely short time.

Accompanying this was a more violent aura.

With a roar, he began to thrash around wildly, and Qingming felt a sharp pain in his eyes as the Illusion Technique: Binding Technique was forcibly broken.

Blood and tears streamed from the corners of Qingming's eyes, and the other Konoha ninjas quickly asked, "Qingming, are you okay?"

Qingming stepped back two paces, covering his eyes. "I'm fine, just be careful!"

In truth, the Konoha ninjas wouldn't have been careless even without Qingming's warning.

When they faced Han earlier, they had already been on the defensive, and now that he was in this state, it was clear he was stronger than before. They couldn't afford to let their guard down.

However, the developments exceeded their expectations.

Han's tails had increased from two to three, and while his aura had surged, his rationality was rapidly diminishing.

Qingming and the others' goal was merely to keep Han occupied, not to kill him.

As such, with his sanity slipping away, their task became even simpler.

After all, dealing with a rampaging beast was far easier than dealing with a human.

While Tailed Beasts possess intelligence comparable to that of humans, having been imprisoned for so long, their first instinct was to destroy everything around them.

Thus, the Konoha ninjas simply took turns attacking, drawing Han's attention toward them.

Time ticked by, second by second.

Minutes passed in the blink of an eye.

Before long, the Iwa-nin seemed to sense something amiss and sent people to investigate the situation.

However, Han, now devoid of reason, saw the approaching Iwa-nin as just another enemy, and he attacked them along with the Konoha ninjas.

The scene turned chaotic, with Konoha ninjas, Iwa-nin, and the semi-tailed beast Han all attacking one another.

And so, several more minutes passed.

Finally, Qingming and the others received new orders: the main force had gathered and created some distance from the Iwa-nin, signaling them to prepare for retreat.

Qingming and the others exchanged glances, then covered one another as they swiftly withdrew from the battle, heading directly toward the direction the main force had retreated.

The Iwa-nin still wanted to pursue, but when Qingming used Genjutsu: Sharingan to control one of them, causing them to be severely injured by Han, none of them dared to follow.

In this way, Qingming and the others successfully distanced themselves from the battlefield.
