Chapter 193 - 193. A Market of Luxury Goods

"And there's no smell of burning candles or lamp oil. It's clean, and you can save money on buying candles and lamp oil. What a great deal!"

Jason Liu held up an LED energy-saving lamp and continued, "A set of solar lighting equipment includes three of these lamps." He opened a cardboard box, revealing three LED bulbs inside. "With this set, all three rooms in your castle can enjoy bright lighting, just like daylight!"

The northern lords were once again captivated by Jason Liu's words. They had already been impressed by the energy-saving lamps, and now, they were forgetting any doubts they had earlier. Instead, they were eager to get their hands on this new technology.

"If you install two sets—six energy-saving lamps—in your banquet hall, your entire hall will be illuminated at night, making your feasts even more enjoyable!"

"And if you place one of these lamps in your study, you can work late into the night without straining your eyes under weak candlelight. It's not just brighter—it's also better for your vision!"

"If you place an order now, I guarantee that your lighting equipment will be ready within three days. My men will deliver it straight to your doorstep and handle the installation. All you need to do is wait for the bright nights ahead!"

Jason then added with a confident smile, "Such high-quality, luxurious lighting is a privilege only for the lords of the North. The great nobles in the South—"

"Enough, Master Jason! Say no more! I want to buy ten sets. Just tell me the price!" The Earl of White Harbor, a wealthy and well-fed man, raised his chubby hand and interrupted Jason in a hurry.

The other lords, who had been completely drawn in by Jason Liu's persuasive speech, snapped out of their daze at the Earl's outburst.

Many secretly cursed Jason Liu in their hearts—this young lord from the East was truly a cunning merchant. With just a few words, he had played both sides and fooled them into wanting to buy his products without even knowing the price.

Yet, despite their frustration, they couldn't deny that they were already tempted to place orders.

Jason Liu glanced at the Earl of White Harbor, slightly annoyed.

'Why did you interrupt me? I wasn't done yet!'

But as soon as he heard the Earl shout out "ten sets," Jason's irritation vanished, and his expression brightened.

'Ah, I see. Being rich really does make a difference!'

Even the Earl's plump and oily face suddenly looked endearing to Jason.

"Lord Wyman, thank you for your support!" Jason said cheerfully. "Each set of solar lighting equipment, including three LED energy-saving lamps, costs just 100 gold dragons. With them, your castle will shine so brightly that all of White Harbor will see it!"

He then turned to the other nobles, eagerly waiting for their orders.

The lords of the North felt their hearts race at his expectant gaze. Silence fell for a moment before another noble spoke up.

"The Dreadfort needs ten sets. Thirty lamps should be enough," Roose Bolton said in his usual calm yet calculating voice.

Big Jon Umber, wiping cider off his beard, declared, "We'll take eight sets. Last Hearth needs eight!"

"Hornwood Castle needs eight sets as well. Lord Jason, please have them delivered soon. I can't wait to hold banquets and manage my affairs in a well-lit room at night!" Lady Dustin said, her smile full of anticipation.

The other noble houses quickly followed suit:

The Starks ordered one set for Castle Winterfell.

House Tallhart of Torrhen's Square requested six sets.

House Manderly of White Harbor added seven more sets.

House Hornwood took seven sets.

House Cerwyn purchased eight sets.

House Glover of Deepwood Motte ordered six sets.

Bear Island, being smaller, only needed five sets.

In addition to the smaller noble houses that bought a few sets here and there, Jason Liu sold nearly 120 sets of solar lighting equipment in total.

That was 12,000 gold dragons in sales.

Between the carriages and the solar lighting equipment, Jason Liu had just made over 50,000 gold dragons in one day.

A truly massive profit.

After finishing their business with him, the lords also purchased other goods from his store, including fine paper, pens, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Though these items were far cheaper, their combined cost still reached over 200 gold dragons.

No matter what, the northern lords had spent a fortune today.

Carriages and solar-powered lights were expensive, but in the end, they knew these would become necessities among the nobles of Westeros. They had no choice but to buy them now, even if their hearts ached at the expense.

Still, as they left, none of them showed any regret on their faces. Instead, they smiled, pretending not to care about the gold they had just spent.

Jason Liu observed them closely.

'If they're smiling, that means they're satisfied with their purchases. They must be secretly delighted to have these exclusive luxuries ahead of the rest of Westeros!'

As they thought about the southern nobles—who still traveled in bumpy wooden carriages and relied on dim candles and smoky lamp oil at night—the northern lords felt a new sense of superiority.

That made the pain of spending so much gold a little easier to bear.

After bidding farewell to the wealthy northern lords who had just made him a fortune, Jason Liu barely had a moment to breathe before another group surrounded him.

Boris and a group of scholars from the North had been waiting anxiously in the next room. As soon as the nobles left, they rushed over.

"Lord Jason, what exactly is this 'penicillin' that you inject into people?"

"Yes! That medicine—it can cure so many diseases! How is it made? Please share your knowledge!"

"And what about those white pills? What are their main ingredients? Can they be made here in Westeros?"

"Master Jason, the device you mentioned, the 'microscope'—can you really bring it here? Can we truly see tiny bacteria and viruses with it?"

"The Citadel will be extremely interested in the medical knowledge from your homeland! Lord Jason, please visit Oldtown when you have time!"

Jason Liu found himself completely surrounded by eager maesters and scholars. His four personal guards—dicken, Kent, Rubin, and Chris—stood close, forming a protective barrier around him. They struggled to hold back the enthusiastic scholars who kept pressing forward.

If not for the fact that these men were respected maesters from noble castles, Jason Liu's guards might have already called for reinforcements to drag them all away.

But for now, they had no choice but to stand firm, trying to shield their lord from the overwhelming crowd.
