"This library holds only 3,000 Dao Scriptures—far too few. It feels empty. We must expand its collection."
Gu Chuan stroked his chin, surveying the vast Chaos Library. Though grand in scale, its contents remained sparse. A mere three thousand Dao Scriptures were unworthy of such a name.
"In addition to Daoist scriptures, the library should house tomes on chaotic materials, encyclopedias of demon god classifications, and volumes on supernatural arts and cultivation techniques."
Gu Chuan harbored grand ambitions. His vision was to construct a repository encompassing all knowledge of the Chaos World, a sanctuary where even the most formidable demon gods would be compelled to seek wisdom.
He recalled the 129,600 supernatural powers he had once created. These must be transcribed into texts—Scriptures of Supernatural Powers—each a refined embodiment of mystical knowledge.
Such an effort would serve as a strong foundation for the library, though expansion would continue indefinitely.
Yet, a realization dawned. "No, for me to establish the Chaos Library alone is too slow. The entirety of the Chaos Demon Gods must take part." A gleam of insight flickered in Gu Chuan's eyes.
The present Chaos World was teeming with demon gods, many possessing extraordinary talents. Though they had acquired the foundational cultivation methods from him, each had forged their own distinct paths.
This divergence meant countless supernatural powers and cultivation techniques had emerged, unique to each demon god. If these beings could be persuaded to contribute their knowledge, the library's vastness would swell immeasurably.
Moreover, he himself stood to gain, for even at his unparalleled Dao Realm, the insights of others could provide unforeseen revelations. No matter how insignificant a demon god appeared, their perspectives might hold profound truths. Such was the boundless variability of chaos.
Of course, few would willingly surrender their most treasured techniques.
But the method was clear—an exchange. The Chaos Library housed incalculable supernatural powers, spells, and great scriptures, a trove any demon god would covet. To access them, they must contribute their own knowledge.
Not all would comply, but if even a fraction did, the library's ascendance was inevitable.
Days Passed.
With supernatural craftsmanship, Gu Chuan transcribed the entirety of the 129,600 supernatural powers into scriptures. Though less profound than the Dao Scriptures, these scriptures were imbued with an immortal essence, rendering them impervious to destruction.
A single touch would grant instant comprehension, the entirety of the supernatural power flowing into the mind of the seeker.
He meticulously categorized the volumes, arranging them alongside the Three Thousand Dao Scriptures.
"This is beginning to resemble a true library."
Gu Chuan was pleased. With the addition of 129,600 Scriptures of Supernatural Powers, the Chaos Library had grown into an irresistible beacon for demon gods.
"However, while the library stands, it lacks librarians."
Security was paramount. The scriptures contained unfathomable power, bound to attract covetous eyes. While Gu Chuan had left spiritual imprints on each, allowing him to reclaim them at will, guardians were still necessary.
His first thought was Pangu. However, as the overseer of the Great Axe Arena, Pangu was too preoccupied.
The second possibility lay with plant-based demon gods such as the World Tree. Yet, these mischievous entities were as unpredictable as Dao Scripture Sprites. Bringing them together could invite chaos beyond measure.
The current Chaos City lacked sufficient administrators. Recruiting capable subordinates was imperative.
Then, a thought struck him. "Those three… They remain within the Chaos Orb space. Perhaps they would make suitable librarians."
He recalled three Chaos Demon Gods imprisoned within the Chaos Orb long ago—Dark Spider Demon, Moth Demon, and Octopus Demon.
Each had once possessed vast potential. Had they not encountered Gu Chuan, they might have ascended to become legends of Chaos, their names resounding through the ages.
Yet, fate had dictated otherwise.
Their capture had rendered their ambitions meaningless.
Still, their abilities made them ideal custodians of the Chaos Library.
Dark Spider Demon's innate supernatural power allowed its web to span entire domains. The slightest disturbance would not escape its notice, ensuring immediate detection of any trespasser.
Octopus Demon's multitude of tentacles formed an inescapable net, sealing any intruder's fate.
Moth Demon, a speed-based entity, could pursue and recapture any escaping thief in an instant.
Together, they formed a perfect defense.
Whoosh!
Determined, Gu Chuan vanished in a flicker, stepping into the Chaos Orb space.
Inside, Dark Spider Demon, Moth Demon, and Octopus Demon huddled together. Despite centuries of self-cultivation, they had been unable to ascend beyond the Quasi-Saint Realm.
Their imprisonment had stripped them of the challenges that fueled growth. No natural enemies. No life-and-death struggles. No external forces pressing them toward breakthrough.
Dark Spider Demon let out a frustrated roar. "No! We must escape this wretched place! If we remain here, we'll rot away into nothingness!"
"Escape?" Octopus Demon scoffed. "This is the inner sanctum of a Supreme Chaos Treasure, sealed on all sides by void barriers. You think you can break through? You haven't even attained the Dao. Even if you had, it wouldn't matter."
His tentacles sprawled lazily across the ground. "Besides, have you forgotten the horror of the Ancient Primal Serpent? You'd best not provoke it. Better to just accept our fate and live out eternity as we are."
Moth Demon nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly! Why make things difficult? This life is easy—no battles, no worries. Eat, sleep, cultivate at leisure. Honestly, we don't even age. So long as we don't actively seek our own destruction, we are immortal."
Little did they know, their peaceful days were about to end.
