Freya's breath hitched.
Her eyes widened in shock as she saw Alex fire an attack straight at her.
Her entire body froze.
A chill ran down her spine, her mind screaming at her to move.
But she couldn't.
Her legs locked in place.
She shut her eyes tight, bracing for the burning pain of the incoming dark flames.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion shook the air.
Freya flinched, but...the pain never came.
Confused, she opened her eyes.
She turned sharply, her heart pounding.
That was when she saw it:
A second fireball, one she hadn't noticed, had been coming straight for her from behind.
Alex's attack hadn't been meant for her.
He had blown the fireball away.
The smoke thickened, swirling in the air.
Then...
Whoosh!
Another fireball shot out of the haze, streaking toward her like a meteor.
Freya gasped.
But before it could reach her—
FWOOSH!
A surge of black flame roared past her shoulder, clashing mid-air with the fireball.
