"Your Majesty, a gift was sent by Palavendra Kingdom." The guard informed the king.
King Clyde looked up from the documents, his eyes flashing with surprise and confusion.
"Are you certain it's from the Queen of Palavendra?" Clyde asked with a frown forming on his lips.
The guard straightened up, "Your Majesty, the Queen of Palavendra's shadow guards delivered it personally."
Clyde leaned back in his seat, baffled by the queen's unexpected gift.
"Inform the guards to check it for any hidden spells or poison before bringing it in," Clyde warned his expression was one of caution.
'What schemes is the queen pulling? does she want to form an alliance with my kingdom?' Clyde thought hard and couldn't come up with any valid reason for her gifting him. He decided to see the gift first before drawing any conclusions.
He picked up his ink brush, but the thought of the gift distracted him. With a sigh, he set the brush down and waited.
