Elora had no energy for intrigue. She simply wanted to enjoy her meal in peace; there was too much work waiting for her in the study.
She averted her gaze, swallowing at the sight of the mouthwatering food before eagerly digging in.
The others watched the queen eat and they picked up their utensils with a slight grimace on their faces.
Their stomachs were bloated with tea, making each bite painful.
Ian and the others ignored the tension, focusing on eating. The sooner they finished, the sooner they could escape the awkward atmosphere.
Everyone ate in silence, the only sounds being the clink of utensils and soft chewing.
Once Elora was filled, she leaned into her chair and took comfortable sips of her wine but somebody had to interrupt her mood.
"Your Majesty, congratulations on your wedding." An older woman stood and said with a smile, but none of it reached her eyes.
