Dante is interested so he stops to check the selection of items. He's willing to grab anything useful for their adventure. "You can go on head Kaito." Dante says.
Kaito looks around the checkpoint. He sees guard towers set up around the four corners, along with two large gates. While walking and not paying attention he bumps into a woman.
Before he can apologize he's shoved by a strong looking man. "Watch where you're going kid!" He shouts at Kaito, while getting in his face.
"Relax Rex it was an accident." The red haired woman says making the man back off. "What's that guys problem?" Kaito questions.
Dante meanwhile is still looking through the shop. He had picked up armor pieces along with a holster to carry his sword, he had also bought some bands he thought looked cool.
Dante had bought him some shoulder armor, and a glove for his hand. He seemed to be just wasting money now after he has already gotten his "adventuring needs"
He continues walking around trying to see if he can spot anything else he would want or need. He's interrupting by a loud ear piercing sound. It was an alarm.
"Monsters are approaching the gates! Everyone inside now!" A guard shouted.
"Hurry to safety!"
"Able fighters stand ready!"
Dante begins panicking in all of the commotion. Was he meant to do something, was he an able fighter. "Wait, no find Kaito!" Dante questions as he begins running around pushing through the crowd that had formed.
He spent what felt like hours looking for Kaito despite it only being a few minutes before he finally spotted him on the outside of the gate running towards the monsters.
"What is he doing out there!?" Dante questions, did Kaito really mean to fight that horde of monsters, the monsters will break down the wall!
He continues scoping it out and he'll see Kaito is rushing towards a child caught outside. "I-I should help him!" Dante shouts. But as he runs towards the open gate his legs shake.
Kaito runs towards the horde rushing. "Don't worry i'm here!" Kaito shouts to the child. Quickly Kaito grabs the child and he picks him up and runs away.
Back inside of the gate Dante is still there but he notices they're attempting to close the gate. "Wait he's still out there!" Dante shouts as he attempts to stop them.
"MOVE!" A guard barks as he shoves Dante to the ground pointing a sword at him.
Sprinting at full speed, Kaito's heavy steps on the earth below him, are dwarfed by the feeling of what feels like hundreds of blood thirsty beasts chasing after him, "don't look back don't look back." Kaito tells himself.
He looks back and sees the horde of monsters right on his tail. The shock causing him to speed up. "WHY DID I LOOK BACK!?" He questions himself.
He runs to quickly that he nearly becomes a blur. A monster nearly gets a bite out of him but he escapes under the gate just before it closes.
After the gate closes the soldiers on the towers will begin firing at the monsters to keep them back.
Dante runs over to Kaito worried for his safety. Kaito smiles at him with a thumbs up. "Don't give me that you could've died!" Dante shouts at him, still freaking out.
The child's parents run up to Kaito. "Thank you so much!" The mother yells as she holds the child. Dante looks at them. "Watch your kids better!" He shouts at them. How could they let their kid end up in a situation like this.
The red haired woman from before walks over to them. "That was pretty dang impressive kid, how about you come work for me?" She offers. "I'm good." Kaito responds.
She shakes her head. "Young adventurers like you usually wouldn't be so brave to head TO a monster hoarde like that." She says as she reaches into her jacket. She pulls out a card and hands it to Kaito. "Here give me a call if you ever wanna do business." She says.
Dante is shocked and stutters. "You're Karin the leader of the trades guild!" Dante shouts. Apparently she is someone important. "Uhm misses Karin, c-could we go to the coalition for hints of a treasure?" Dante nervously asks.
Karin nods. "They could know something, but with the gate closed you'd have to wait a few days." Karin explains and Kaito groans. "I don't wanna wait that long, got anything else?" Kaito asks.
Karin seems reluctant to answer but eventually she does. "You can try the den of thieves, they have an eye for treasure after all."
A shudder is sent through Dante's entire body, the den of thieves, a place that just begs for trouble just by being there. You're bound to be a worse person just by being there.
Kaito laughs. "That sounds fun! We'll go that way!" Kaito says. Dante is once again shocked to hear his answer. He closes his eyes praying. "Can we just wait here instead?" He asks Kaito... no response.
He opens his eyes to see Kaito is already walking away. Dante runs after him. "B-bye Karin!" He says as he runs after Kaito.
Karin just looks at Kaito. "What a interesting young man." She says as they leave.
Kaito doesn't really feel like waiting in one place for multiple days again, so he'd rather just push forwards, besides den of thieves sounds awesome.
