The youths continued forward and left the safe checkpoint.
Yoru was now ahead of them, the masked girl did not elaborate where but that is fine... Maybe?
Yoru was very unnoticeable whenever he was with the group, but now that he's actually gone, they felt less safe since he was the main meat shield of masked girls scolding.
"Ah we are done for." The youngest twin said with a sigh.
The older twin sighed as well but continued forward.
Yoru may be gone but now that there were three awakened in their team, though they were still new and might cause some accidents – Roan most probable – the twins and Jakes group trusts them enough that they won't hurt them...
Hopefully.
Roan was at the very front, while Wang Zihan and Zhao Lina were behind him on his left and right, the rest were at the center and in a half circle formation. Inside the circle was the remaining commoners, Jake not included, they carried the supplies and necessities along with other miscellaneous things.
They continued on forward, going into the random caves.
While walking though, Roan turned to look over at the two heirs and successors of their clan and asked:
"Hey, so... What are the 'Paths' you mentioned anyway? Elements I know that much, but I've never learned of 'Paths' in the books before."
Zhao Lina looked at Wang Zihan, silently telling him to answer.
Wang Zihan sighed.
' Not because she doesn't know, but because she's been talking too much... I don't understand her at all!'
He turned to Roan and smiled, he used his basic elements and summoned golden light.
He hovered it in the air and then shaped it into several symbols, then more symbols that branched off of other symbols.
"It's a complicated thing to explain, really. Elements as you know, are the basic ones which are: Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind.
Several other elements branch off those basic elements, there are original elements as well."
" But the 'Paths' are different," Zhao Lina finally spoke, chiming in on the conversation, "Since we are not like the Initiated in the Center Quadrant¹ who have Ranks and Classes, we have Paths."
The commoners listened attentively, they stopped walking and sat down at a few boulders and rocks to rest.
Zhao Lina continued:
" The common Paths for people like you, Roan, would be Destruction or Preservation. Fitting for you, who has a great sword, as for what those two Paths mean... "
Zhao Lina glanced at Roan, silently testing him.
Roan thought for a few seconds, then answered:
"Is it in the name itself? Destruction to wreak havoc and to destroy, Preservation to guard and protect, right?"
Zhao Lina smiled lightly at his answer, nodding in approval.
Wang Zihan gave her a long look...
' How come she smiles at him and Yoru but never at anyone else... '
"Then what are the other Paths?" Anne also chimed in, asking a question of her own.
Amie who's been keeping quiet, and curiously listening this entire time, chimed in as well:
"Can you only have one Path though? If you, Ms. Zhao, get the Path of Destruction..."
She paused, rubbed her chin cutely, making Anne stiffle a chuckle and then continued.
"Would it be because your now awakened element is fire?"
It was a good question.
Wang Zihan smiled and nodded in approval, seeing this Roan pat Amie's shoulder and gave her a thumbs up.
Zhao Lina turned to look forward, deep in the cave was dark and there was no light, only her fire or Wang Zihan's golden element.
Finally she turned to Amie.
" That is a good assumption, indeed it is. But Paths don't always connect to a person's awakened element, it is deeply rooted to the person, that is their main Path."
" As for your first question," Wang Zihan added as he stood up, "Yes someone can have more than one Path, but it is a rare occurrence! Atleast seven in the whole known worlds of us Systemless have more than one Path."
Wang Zihan willed his Mana forward, turning into a golden light and then made it into a shape of a young child just like them.
He was very skilled at making shapes, his imagination was flawless.
The youths were able to make up a few details of this child they were looking at.
She looked only slightly older than them, she wore a nun's clothing and had a cute and bright exterior...
"Wait a damn minute!"
Jake suddenly exclaimed, but Roan covered his mouth.
Roan then added, despite him surprised to learn of this information:
"That's the chosen candidate for this generations Saintess isn't it!?!"
Wang Zihan got shocked at both of their exclamations, and then trying to calm them down.
The twins looked at Zhao Lina, seeking an explanation but not wanting to say it out loud, so in the end, Anne and Amie asked the same question:
"Is that true? The youngest chosen Saintess of this generation has two Paths?"
Zhao Lina nodded.
"Yes that is true, this information is only given to the lucky few. My clan is a High class clan after all."
"Yes our clan is of High class," Wang Zihan started, "But the influence of our clan isn't world wide. We are already lucky enough to meet the young and soon to be Saintess..."
The others suddenly gasped.
The twins eyebrows twitched in envy and the two commoners almost passed out for some reason.
Anne and Amie almost did the same, almost falling out of their seats if it weren't for Roan and Jake.
" Pfft!"
Wang Zihan started laughing, absolutely amused by everyone's reactions.
Zhao Lina sighed...
This fool.
" Yes we did see the future Saintess, but it was only from a distance, she did not even look at our direction."
Zhao Lina stood up and lift up a fire in her hands.
"We're getting distracted from our objective already," she said with a glare, immediately making everyone focus and stand up.
" We'll get to the Path discussion later, now let's hurry on and find the next safe zone."
