Ariana POV
Pain wracked her body, even while she moved through the countryside with Irina behind her and the Trenholm and Merak forces flanking them.
"I can feel it," she said.
Irina's voice was tight and tense. "Not so loud. I can feel him, too. Every cursed blow that Luc lands on him. I can feel when he hurts."
Ariana clamped her mouth shut to keep her teeth from chattering. For all she knew, some of the Lammas forces might be patrolling, trying to stamp out any opposition. They'd love to pounce upon her and Irina. And she didn't want the Trenholm and Merak forces to spot them, either. They would just take her and Irina back to the palace. Aunt Sally and Bill would hogtie both of them so they couldn't escape.
