The soft light of dawn streaked through the curtains in my luxurious guest room at the White Moon Packhouse. This wouldn't be the first time I was sleeping over, but last night felt different.
A satisfied smile played on my lips as I recalled the conversation with Eldric Kincaid—Ramsey's grandfather. He had always liked me, which made me feel like the rightful Luna to the White Moon Throne I always believed I should be.
Last night, he had urged me to win back Ramsey, assuring me I had his full support. In his words: "You're the right choice for this pack, Cassidy. The perfect Luna who should be by Ramsey's side."
The smile lingered on my lips as I made my way to the kitchen that early morning. I was thirsty and for appearance's sake; I didn't want to call for a maid. It was important to seem humble in front of the peasants who worked in the Packhouse—to show that I wasn't above getting my drink.
