Chapter 14 - Experiment O went berserk

Finn's mother sighed," Just forget about it. Maybe it's not as strange as am making it out to be. So sweetie, how's work?"

Finn leaned back against his seat," Work is great mum."

Just how was he supposed to forget about it that easily now that she had said something so terrifying?

They conversed for a few more minutes, talking about Finn's new working environment, talking about Finn's father and other non essential things.

When it got late, Finn wished his mother goodnight and lay on his own bed staring at the ceiling.

"Good morning sweetie," Flower greeted him enthusiastically.

"Morning," Finn said," so, what can I help you with today."

"Heard from boss you are from X university. What do you major in?"

"Supernatural research," he replied and Flower's eyes shot up.

"Supernatural research?"

Finn nodded and Flower rubbed her eyes," Okay then. For today's task boss wanted me to take you through our special team. Give me a minute to finish up and we will be on our way."

Finn nodded and resumed to his daily task of sweeping the floor and arranging everything that seemed out of place.

Later, Finn stood in a corridor with neither windows nor doors in sight just the pale white fluorescent light that somehow managed to illuminate the path ahead.

"Come on," Flower said her voice low but because of the silence, her voice was boosted.

"Where are we going exactly?" Finn asked and Flower walked ahead without sparing him a glance.

Finn forced himself to swallow the nervousness creeping up in his system. He gently rubbed his chest urging himself to calm down.

The two walked in silence, the tapping of their shoes being the only sound all around them.

"Okay. Here we are!" Flower said coming to an abrupt stop.

Finn looked ahead and spotted a metallic door with guards holding firearms on either side of the door.

"This is..."

Flower walked towards the guards and produced her card. The guard grunt in response and opened the door.

"Come on in sweetie. It's almost feeding time."

"What? Feeding time? Whose feeding time? What's going on?"

Flower grabbed his wrist and before Finn could register what was happening, the strong stench of blood hit his nose.

The smell of blood is so strong in here. Is this perhaps a surgery room? Why would boss suggest bringing me to a surgery room? It's not my field of expertise, Finn thought to himself.

Just as he was about to voice his questions, they stopped by a huge metallic door similar to the entrance, only difference being no guards were positioned there.

Flower produced a set of keys from her lab coat and opened the door. She ushered for Finn to go into the room. The room was dark and as much as Finn peered into the room, his eyes couldn't make out anything in the darkness.

"What's in there?" He asked cautiously and Flower smiled.

"Boss assigned you to take care of this experiment. It is a very crucial experiment so whatever you do, you may not harm it or kill it in any way. Engaging with it would be recommended," Flower said and Finn's nerves did not relax in the slightest.

What sort of experiment was Flower talking about? What was going on?

Reluctantly, he walked into the dark room and as he forced himself to see in the darkness, he heard Flower's voice behind him.

"Try and not get killed sweetie, you are my favourite person after all."

What accompanied her disappearing voice was the sound of the metal door closing with a loud thud.

Finn swallowed, his knees slowly buckling under him.

"It's okay, it's okay maybe it's just some dog or wild animal.."

Finn felt around and successfully found the wall, using it as a guide, he walked forward slowly.

After what felt like a long time had passed, the sound of laboured breathing and shackles clanking sounded from before him.

Finn's instincts screamed for him to not check what was happening but as he heard the laboured breathing, he was certain that it was a person and he assumed that he might be injured. Going against his instincts, he walked towards the source of the sound.

"Hello? Is anyone here?"

No response but this did not deter him just as he was thinking about what to do, the room suddenly lit up.

Finn who had gotten used to the darkness covered his eyes at the sudden brightness. A long minute or two passed before he lowered his hands and looked around the place he was in.

His face paled at the sight before him and taking a step back, he tumbled against something causing him to fall with a thud. He groaned in pain and looked at what he had tripped over. The body was in an unrecognisable state except for the uniform the body had on, Finn would have easily passed it off as some sort of animal.

He quickly got to his feet and deciding he had seen enough of the room, he dashed towards the way he came.

Finn had barely taken two steps when something grabbed the back of his neck. He aggressively tried to twist himself free but the grip on him was too strong. Seconds later, pain shot up from his neck as something sharp pierced into his skin. He could feel his blood being drained and if he didn't do anything, he would end up dead.

Since the difference in their strengths was great, Finn decided to follow his instinct.

Summoning his strength, he elbowed the thing behind him, his elbows knocking with the person's ribs.

The grip on Finn loosened and he dashed towards the exit only to stop by a body with a long metal wrench. He recalled that the door was locked and if he was to scream nobody would hear his cries. And there was the whole feeding time Flower had mentioned to him earlier.

Without much thought, he grabbed the metal to use as a protection tool and turned around facing the slumped figure.

The person's beige hair was messy and with his head bowed down, his hair was sprawled on the ground.

"Did I hit him too hard?" Finn wondered as he took a step closer to the figure.

Standing at an arm's length distance, he nudged the figure with the wrench.

"Buddy, are you okay? Did I use too much strength?"

The figure remained motionless and Finn, thinking he might be unconscious, raised a hand intending to lay him on his back. What he did not expect was for the figure to snatch his wrist and switch their positions.

Finn's back slammed hard against the concrete floor and a painful gasp escaped hid throat. With both his hands pinned on either side of his head by the figure, he had little to no chance of escaping from the grasp.

The man let out a low snarl before lowering his head and licking the blood from Finn's neck.

Finn flinched when the cold, moist tongue licked his blood away and gasped when something pierced through his flesh.

Finn squirmed under him with little effect on the guy above him.

"L..let.. go!"

If he didn't escape then he'd end up dead. Just as his eyes began to slowly darken, the guy pulled back licking the crimson from his lips.

With his remaining strength, Finn looked up and met with a pair of bright red eyes staring at him.

He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. He internally groaned and slowly blinked looking at the pair of eyes as they slowly changed colour from red to jade green.

At least he could die looking at such beautiful eyes, he thought to himself as he slipped into darkness.

The figure looked at the limp body before him, his hands slightly trembling, what had he done?

The figure, or rather vampire was known as experiment O, he had no collection of his past memories save for the fact when he opened his eyes, he was in a dark room.

People were always brought into the room alive and when he woke up, everyone was dead.

He didn't know what had happened but when he looked down at his hands and saw blood, he knew he might have done something but couldn't remember what it was.

Experiment O covered his face and pulled away from the passed out Finn, he had done it again, he had killed someone.

As Experiment O thought about hiding in a corner, the figure before him slightly shifted, his chest heaving up and down. The first reaction from experiment O was of course panic and surprise.

As soon as the figure shifted, he was already against the wall a couple of metres away.

Finn, who had somehow gained some strength, opened his eyes and looked around the room. He immediately spotted the figure who had attacked him against the wall. Now that the figure's head was raised, he could clearly see the facial features of his attacker and he was rendered speechless.

The man had long beige hair which rested on his otherwise broad shoulders, the pair of jade green eyes looking scared for some reason enhanced his pale, almost white skin making his handsomeness other worldly.

Despite his inner protests, Finn walked towards the figure and knelt down before him. Experiment O's body stiffened at his sudden presence and Finn smiled.

"Hello, what's your name? Who are you? Why did you try to kill me?"

Experiment O opened his mouth to speak and having not spoken for a long while, he could only manage to say three words, with great difficulty.

"I.. don't.. know..."
