Pov Hermione,
It's been a couple of weeks since I last spoke to Ron and Harry, and honestly, Ron annoys me.
For the whole year, he didn't stop complaining about my cat attacking his rat, even going so far as to accuse me of killing it. And when I apologized for what Crookshanks had done, he acted as if the rat's death didn't matter much.
I hate this behavior because I was really hurt by the way he treated me, and he didn't even apologize.
The only good thing about this dispute is that I spent a lot of time with smart people who want to learn more and are kind.
I learned some charms that are never taught at school, and discovering how wizards from ancient times lived was very interesting.
Evelyn was right to say that this subject is fascinating; now I want to learn everything about that era.
Evelyn has always been nice to me, and we had good, intelligent conversations compared to the other two.
Evelyn's intelligence was such that she taught me a lot and even helped me recognize the flaws in my behavior.
I know I'm not perfect and tend to put people on a pedestal or rely too much on books rather than practice, but they never stopped judging me. Thankfully, Evelyn advised me and helped me become aware of this, just like she did in our first year.
The exams were finished, and even though I was a little stressed about the DADA exam, I still passed all the tests, even if the time spent fighting the Boggart may have cost me some points.
On our way to Hagrid's, we saw Minister Fudge, Headmaster Dumbledore, and the executioner, who was already present even though the appeal hadn't been made yet.
I was a little worried, but I wasn't too stressed because, thanks to Marie and Evelyn, we had a backup plan to save Buckbeak.
Even though I don't like heights, I ended up growing fond of that animal after spending time visiting Hagrid to console him and help him with the trial.
When we arrived at Hagrid's, he had found Ron's rat and returned it to him.
The rat looked very sick, which made me wonder how it could still be alive, but at least Ron would no longer hold a grudge against Pattenrond or me.
Something caught our attention — probably ourselves using the Time Turner — and made us aware that the Minister, the executioner, and the Headmaster were coming to Hagrid's.
We ran away, but I still tried to keep track of the timing by listening for the sound of the axe falling, which let me know when to take Buckbeak.
While climbing the hill, we saw Pattenrond rushing toward the rat, even though I tried to stop him.
Ron managed to grab his rat, but then a large black dog appeared out of nowhere and dragged him toward the Whomping Willow.
And from there, a lot happened.
The Whomping Willow could be stopped by pressing on a certain root.
Following the passage, we ended up in the Shrieking Shack.
The dog was actually Sirius Black, and when Harry tried to go after him, Professor Lupin intervened.
I was so shocked that I had to tell all my friends.
But Professor Lupin seemed disappointed in me.
"Compared to Evelyn, you just made a mistake in your assumptions. First of all, I confess that I'm on Sirius's side for a specific reason that could change the lives of several people and it's just a collaboration. Secondly, no, I didn't help him — he was already there from the beginning. And finally, yes, I am a werewolf."
They told us the story of their childhood and revealed that Peter Pettigrew was the true Secret Keeper.
Another thing that shocked me was that Evelyn and Marie had known for two months and had also been chasing Peter.
Now that I think about it, I remember seeing them use their magical eyes in the hallways whenever there was a rat, but I didn't ask because I thought they were just practicing.
