Hoshi stands surprised for a moment, not expecting this move of mine. Pressed to him, I can hear his heartbeat quicken. He stands cutely confused, but his hands eventually find my shoulders and embrace me back, his body radiating with warmth.
My own chest is burning, making me forget about the real coldness around us. I rest in his hands, breathing peacefully, making his own pulse slow down. I look up at him, my hands still placed above his hips, his hands still on my shoulders. Even under this strongly orange light, I can see his cheeks being adorably pink from the cold.
I would love to tell him how I think he was made for winter. His facial features soft as snowflakes, his body made for cozy coats and long scarves, yet his tender hands smooth, but thistly freezing as icicles. But inside of his lair, his heavily brown eyes make him just a sleepy and cozy winter bear
I don't know why I couldn't tell him, I just think I do not need to say it. Sometimes a long hug tells more than a hundred beautiful words. Sometimes a feeling is everything, but it doesn't last forever.
Hoshi stares right into my blue eyes, observing them. With every blink, I can see him intensely perceive my every detail. The length of my lashes, my naturally thin eyebrows, the colour blue, that stands out in my pale face and my bangs intruding my vision. His slim fingers reach out to my forehead, and their cold tips again spread my view, until we closely adhere to each other again.
We have to let go, although getting quietly covered in the light snow did never sound like a bad idea. I slowly step away, stealing his looks once more. I softly smile with my warm cheeks, getting one of his heartwarming smiles back in return.
My fingers are already becoming frozen, difficult to move. I grab my modest bike by the handles, again walking with Hoshi through the park. Although I'm freezing, I still hope it doesn't reach its end soon, so I can enjoy Hoshi's accompany a little longer, even if my fingers have frostbites. But as I already knew, the end was already closer than we were a while ago. We have no other choice but to say goodbye, and look forward to the next day when we decided to meet up. I wave at him, my hand barely being able to hold the bike handle from how frozen it was. Hoshi smiles warmly and disappears in the night suburbs.
My way home never felt so long and torturing, yet it has never held better memories.
I maybe didn't celebrate the very first snowflake touching the ground with Yuki, but I made it worth it in its own, special way. I think my dark haired bestie will be happy for me too when I tell her all the unexpected things that came in my way tonight.
But I'll keep that on tomorrow. Now I only crave to snuggle up in my cozy duvet and blankets that will keep me warm the whole, magical night.
