Chapter 59 - Unknown Enemy II

"Ah... damn it!" I cursed as a fountain of blood sprayed over my face from his severed head.

"I lost my composure," I thought, regretting the kill. "I should have extracted information first."

Pushing aside my frustration, I turned to his corpse. "Now, let's see his secret," I murmured as I stripped him of his clothes. Examining his body closely, I noticed a concentrated flow of mana around his chest.

Without hesitation, I tore it open. What I saw left me speechless. His heart pulsed with tiny pieces of glowing stone embedded inside—almost as if it had been shattered and fused with them before being reattached.

The heart was still beating, and with each pulse, the stones flickered before dimming as the organ finally stopped.

The implications were staggering. How many experiments had been conducted to achieve this? More importantly, these stones carried almost no traces of corrupted mana.

"There's only one explanation...purified mana stones," I muttered unconsciously.
