In the next few days, Nami stayed in Cocoyasi Village to rest. During this time, she also managed to release Zoro and Usopp, who had been captured by the Arlong Pirates. She didn't expect them to catch up with her, insisting that she return to the sea with them. But for Nami, becoming a pirate was never her wish; she had more important things to do.

Why would she want to be a pirate when those kind of people were the ones who made her village suffer? Because of those kind of people she lost her mother. Because of those kind of people she has to risk her life going out to sea to steal in order to recover her village.

Why would she want to be a pirate when those kind of people were the ones who made her village suffer because of those kind of people she lost her mother because of those kind of people she has to risk her life going out to sea to steal in order to get her village back.

She doesn't want to have anything to do with pirates she prefers to stay in the village living a quiet life growing tangerines she could even accept Mina's proposal and become one of her stepmothers.

which isn't bad from what Mina has told her her father treats all his wives equally always prioritizing their well-being he even told her that her father strengthens his wives so that they don't have to worry if he or his children are not there.

Who wouldn't want to live a life of luxury with a handsome husband? Even though he has many wives, it seems that it is not a problem for them to share since they all get along.}

For now she put those thoughts aside and focused on what she had to do, which was to collect the remaining money.

She was only 7 million belly away from fulfilling her agreement with Captain Arlong—redeeming the village and returning freedom to the villagers. That was her sole mission.

Once she was ready, Nami knew she had to set off again. Although she was close to her goal, 7 million belly was still a significant amount. However, with her expertise, she was confident she could gather the remaining money in one go. Once she collected the full 100 million belly, she could finally fulfill the agreement with Captain Arlong.

She believed he would keep his word. He had once said, "Instead of breaking a financial promise, I'd rather commit suicide. That's the kind of man I am."

Trusting that Arlong wouldn't break the agreement, Nami was determined to redeem the village and free herself from the Arlong Pirates. But before anything else, she had to ensure Mina was safe. Stealing treasure from pirate crews was dangerous enough on her own; taking someone else along would only increase the risk.

She is lucky that this is the weakest sea and most of the pirates are idiots but if she tried to steal from pirates like Don Krieg or Eldoraggo she would never get out alive.

She has always tried to be as cautious as possible when stealing from pirates. She knows that it is dangerous but what can she do? It is the easiest way to get money.

So, naturally, she didn't take Mina with her. The only person in the village she could rely on to help was her sister, Nojiko. Nami took Mina to Nojiko's house. Nojiko looked curiously at Nami and the unfamiliar child who walked in with her. This child wasn't from the village, that much was clear.

"Nami, did you bring this child back to the village?" Nojiko asked curiously.

"Yes, she was wandering alone at sea, so I brought her back. After everything is settled, I'll take her to find her brother," Nami explained. "You know I have work to do. It's quite dangerous, and I can't take care of a child while doing it. Can you please watch over her for me?"

Nami didn't tell her sister that she still needed 7 million bellys to complete the deal. If she did, Nojiko would undoubtedly risk her life to help, but she wasn't a thief like Nami and wouldn't be able to gather that much money. It was easier for Nami to earn it herself, and she planned to go out again.

Nojiko felt a pang of sadness. She knew what that meant: Nami was planning to steal from another pirate crew. As her sister, she felt helpless and guilty for not being able to help her. Despite having the power to defeat the Fishmen thanks to knowing that person, she cannot intervene because when she realizes the truth about Arlong, Nami will grow up and be able to erase that shadow that consumes her.

For now, she can only wait and see how the situation is resolved thanks to little Mina.

"Okay, Nami, leave the child here. I'll take care of her for you. And don't worry, she's a cute kid," Nojiko said.

Mina, however, wasn't happy. "I don't want to be separated from Sister Nami. Take me with you! I promise I won't be a burden. I'm very strong," she insisted, feeling frustrated that Nami saw her as a liability. Although she was the youngest in her family, it didn't mean she was weak.

Nami frowned and said sternly, "Mina, what I'm going to do is very dangerous. It's better if you stay here and be safe. I'll be back soon."

For Nami, who had been doing this for 10 years, the probability of failure was almost zero. But bringing along a child would significantly increase the chances of something going wrong, and that was something she couldn't risk.

She didn't take Mina's words seriously—no matter how strong Mina claimed to be, she was still just a child and a girl at that.

She can't believe that a little girl is capable of fighting pirates, especially those who are fishmen who are said to be several times stronger than a human on land and even more dangerous in water.

What can a little girl do? She has to solve this situation on her own. When she completes the 100 million, she will go to Arlong and buy the village from him.

Nojiko tried to comfort Mina. "That's right, listen to Sister Nami. Stay here, and I'll take good care of you."

Mina was still unhappy but didn't argue further. She had picked up on something important—whatever task Nami was doing was critical. If Mina could help her solve it, she might be able to bring Nami back to her family and make her father happy.

And if that happened, her father wouldn't be angry at her for running away. She decided to ask Nojiko for more details later and then catch up with Nami.

Poor Mina still thinks she will get away with it after escaping from her family's island. She doesn't know that she is currently being watched.

Anything she does will be reported to her father, so when she leaves the island she will be punished. It doesn't matter if she brings a woman to her father, she will still be punished.

In the end, everything she does will be in vain.

Relieved that Mina had stopped protesting, Nami said, "You can stay here from now on. I'll go back, pack up, and then head out to sea."

At that moment, there was a commotion outside.

"Look, the Marines are here!"

"Are they here to take down the Arlong Pirates?"

In the village, a Marine officer wearing a hat and a beard like a rat, with small eyes, walked in with a dozen Marines. He looked at the villagers present. One man, wearing a brown military uniform and a hat with a windmill on it, stepped forward and asked, "Are you here to defeat the Arlong Pirates?"

Colonel Nezumi of the Marines raised an eyebrow. What a joke—he didn't have the power to take down Arlong. He was here because Arlong had ordered him to steal Nami's 100 million Belly.

He smiled and said, "I'm here to find Nami. Judging by your appearance, you must be the local police. Take me to Nami's residence."

Village policeman Genzo was stunned. They were here to see Nami?

"Excuse me, Sir Marine, what business do you have with Nami?" Genzo asked cautiously. Nami was Bellemere's adopted daughter, and he cared about her. He knew she was trying to collect 100 million Belly, even resorting to becoming a thief at sea.

Colonel Nezumi snorted in annoyance. "That's none of your business. Just lead the way."

Genzo didn't dare to resist; he was just a small-town policeman. He hoped the Marines wouldn't cause trouble for Nami. After all, most of what she stole was from other pirates.

He had heard some information from Nojiko, which worried him. Even if other pirate crews weren't as terrifying as the Arlong Pirates, they were still ruthless, and that was something to be concerned about.

"Okay, I'll show you the way," Genzo agreed, leading them toward Nami's house.
