Anna's POV
All eyes turned to me as the pen rolled to the ground.
Rafe picked it up from where it had rolled to and gave it to me.
I gripped the pen hard, almost snapping it into two.
I can tell Dad could tell that I was boiling with anger and Rafe's Dad can sense my reluctance but they are neither empathetic or sympathetic.
My feelings mean little to nothing to them.
I signed the document and Rafe's Dad's throaty laughter broke the silence that hung in the air like a heavy blanket.
"We are now one family Varon." He exclaimed and shook hands with Dad who also has a proud smile on his face.
I had come here in that car which means I would have to call for a cab to return to the company.
Rafe hurried after me into the elevator, his gaze following me but I ignored him totally.
I had wished not to have to deal with more problematic people today but my prayers were rejected.
"Let me drop you off," he said, driving my thoughts away.
