THERE WERE different definition of death. The easiest, and most identifiable definition was the loss of life. Another definition could be, when a person loses what he desires most in the world. It could be his wife, family, pet, wealth, and riches or something as simple as his glory or reputation, another could be seeing his wish come through… but in another person whom he despised and not being able to do anything about it.
But the type of death Luella would give to Nanette was one of cruelty, she would keep her alive and slowly and surely have her lose her mentality until it was none existent, turning the duchess to an imbecile.
