Chapter 4 - Ch. 4 First Day At U.A.

Izumi had been anxiously waiting for her U.A. results, the weight of anticipation pressing on her shoulders.

She had just stepped out of the shower, a towel wrapped around her as she dried her damp green locks.

The steam from the bathroom still clung to the air when her phone suddenly buzzed on the nearby counter.

She reached for it absentmindedly, expecting a message from a friend or maybe a random notification. But when she glanced at the screen, her breath hitched—

'Kacchan'

Her heart pounded. Why was he calling her? Before she could even process it, her mother, Inko, burst into the room, eyes wide with excitement, clutching a pristine white envelope in her hands.

"Izumi! The letter from U.A. is here!" Inko exclaimed, barely containing her excitement.

Izumi quickly grabbed the letter, her hands slightly trembling. "T-Thanks, Mom... I'll open it in my room."

Inko nodded, understanding her daughter's need for privacy, and stepped out, waiting just beyond the door.

With the door shut, Izumi walked over to her desk, taking a deep breath before carefully tearing open the envelope.

A small metallic disk slipped out and, before she could react, it lit up, projecting a bright hologram.

The towering figure of All Might appeared in the room.

"I AM HERE!" he announced in his usual booming voice. "You may be wondering why I am the one delivering this message.

The reason I've been in Musutafu recently is that I have taken a teaching position at U.A.! But that's not all—I have important news regarding your entrance exam!"

Izumi's heart raced as she listened intently.

"You passed the written exam with flying colors, securing the second-highest score.

But that wasn't all! In the practical exam, you achieved one of the highest scores in U.A.'s history, breaking my own record of 126 villain points by obtaining 144 points! However, villain points alone were not the only thing being assessed.

We also awarded rescue points to those who displayed heroism and selflessness. Because you bravely saved Uraraka-san, you earned an additional 60 rescue points.

That brings your total to an astounding 184 points—making you the top scorer in this year's exam! Congratulations, Young Midoriya! Welcome to U.A. High!"

The hologram faded as Izumi processed the news. She had done it. Not only had she passed, but she had set a new record.

Overcome with excitement, she jumped up, barely able to contain her joy. She rushed to the door, flinging it open to share the news with her mother.

After celebrating with Inko, Izumi returned to her room, still buzzing with happiness. But before she could fully settle down, her phone buzzed again.

The name on the screen made her freeze. 'Kacchan'.

She hesitated before answering. "H-Hello?"

"Deku!" Bakugo's voice exploded through the speaker, making her flinch. "Just because you beat me in the exam doesn't mean you're better than me! Got it?!"

Izumi immediately started panicking, shaking her head as if he could see her. "N-No, Kacchan! I d-don't think that at all! I've always admired you, ever since—" She cut herself off, realizing she had said too much.

There was silence on the other end. Then, a faint scoff. "Tch... Damn Deku," Bakugo muttered, but just before he hung up, his voice softened to a barely audible whisper. "See you at U.A., Izu."

Izumi blinked, but before she could process what she might have heard, the call ended. Her face burned as she held the phone to her chest.

Three days later, the first day of U.A. arrived. Izumi stood in front of the mirror, dressed in her neatly pressed uniform—a crisp white shirt tucked into a pleated skirt, a blazer over it, and a red tie snugly in place. She nodded to herself, steeling her nerves before heading out the door.

"Bye, Mom!" she called as she hurried off to the train station.

As she stepped onto the train, she barely had time to find a spot before she noticed a familiar figure entering—Bakugo.

He saw her too, but immediately looked away, pretending not to notice. Izumi swallowed nervously, her hands clutching the strap of her bag as she tried to calm her racing heart.

However, her nerves were soon replaced by discomfort as she felt an unfamiliar hand graze against her thigh.

Her breath hitched. She tried to shift away, but the crowded train made it impossible. The touch returned, firmer this time—trailing lower.

Her stomach twisted. Just as she was about to turn around and confront the man, a strong, calloused hand suddenly grabbed the offender's wrist.

Izumi turned, wide-eyed. 'Kacchan'.

His crimson eyes burned with rage as he tightened his grip. The man attempted to glare back, but Bakugo's feral snarl was enough to make him freeze.

"Touch her again, and I'll make sure you don't have hands left to touch anyone," Bakugo growled lowly, his voice dripping with unfiltered fury.

The man paled and scrambled away the moment the train doors opened, disappearing into the crowd.

Izumi, still shaken, looked up at Bakugo. Her voice trembled. "K-Kacch—"

Before she could finish, she felt herself being pulled forward. Bakugo's arm wrapped protectively around her waist, pressing her firmly against his chest.

A startled yelp escaped her lips as he held her there for the rest of the ride, his grip unwavering.

Neither of them spoke. The only sound between them was the rapid beating of their hearts.

Izumi's face was burning as she tried not to focus on how warm and solid his chest felt against her.

Meanwhile, Bakugo was cursing himself for noticing how ridiculously soft her waist was.

When the train finally arrived, they stepped off together, still unconsciously holding onto each other.

Their steps were synchronized as they walked toward U.A., neither daring to let go.

It wasn't until they reached the massive doors of Class 1-A that realization struck them at the same time.

Their eyes widened, and, as if electrocuted, they instantly pulled away from each other.

"S-Sorry!" Izumi stammered, face glowing red.

"Tch—whatever!" Bakugo grumbled, turning his head sharply to the side, hiding his own flustered expression.

Before Bakugo could respond, a cheerful voice interrupted them. "Hey! You're the girl who saved me from the zero-pointer!"

Izumi turned to see Uraraka beaming at her.

Bakugo, deciding he had had enough, huffed and strode off toward the classroom. However, before he could disappear, Aizawa's tired voice rang out from behind them.

"If you're done making friends, get inside already."

Class 1-A was about to begin, and Izumi had a feeling that her time at U.A. would be far more eventful than she had ever imagined.

Now settling into their seats, Izumi glanced forward, only to see Bakugo sitting directly in front of her.

Her heart fluttered, a warmth blooming in her chest as she found herself smiling slightly. Just being near him made her feel... strange, but in a way she didn't dislike.

Aizawa, ever his usual tired self, sighed before addressing the class. "We're going to conduct a Quirk Apprehension Test.

Change into the P.E. uniforms provided and meet me on the training field outside." He pulled out the uniforms from his sleeping bag, prompting everyone to scramble toward the locker rooms.

In the boys' locker room, Mineta, the boy with peculiar purple, ball-like hair, discovered a peephole in the wall that led directly to the girls' side.

Eyes gleaming with perversion, he grinned. "This is my chance to see the beauties of U.A.—"

Before he could take even a single peek, an ominous presence loomed behind him. Bakugo grabbed Mineta by the collar, lifting him effortlessly off the ground.

"You even think about looking, and I'll blow your damn balls off—not the ones on your head." His tone was low, dangerously so.

On the other side of the wall, the girls heard the commotion, some of them expressing their disgust at Mineta's antics.

Meanwhile, Izumi stood frozen, her face flushing in embarrassment at the realization that she had almost been seen.

Silently, she—and every girl in the room—thanked Bakugo for shutting Mineta down.

(A/N)[I know this scene with Mineta does not happen this early in the anime but I put it in still]

Now outside, the students stood in their P.E. uniforms as Aizawa addressed them. Izumi hesitated before stepping toward Bakugo.

She kept her gaze lowered, her fingers clutching the hem of her shirt as she mumbled, "T-Thank you for earlier, Kacchan…" A warm blush spread across her cheeks as she glanced up at him before quickly looking away.

Bakugo scoffed, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Tch. Whatever. Just don't let creeps get near you."

His words were harsh, but his tone was softer than usual. Izumi's blush deepened.

Aizawa then turned to Izumi. "Midoriya, step forward. You scored the highest on the entrance exam, so you'll demonstrate the ball throw first. What was your previous record?"

Izumi blinked, still recovering from her conversation with Bakugo. "U-Um, 284 meters."

Some students gasped in surprise, but Aizawa remained neutral. "Alright. This time, use your full strength, and you're allowed to use your quirk."

Taking a deep breath, Izumi activated Full Cowling: 25%.

Her body surged with power as she combined it with Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist and 'Water Breathing' throwing the ball with all her might—only for it to suddenly her to suddenly halt at the feeling of emptiness soon.

The score? 1,460 meters.

Izumi blinked in confusion before realizing what had happened.

She turned swiftly, meeting Aizawa's gaze, his hair floating as his red eyes glowed ominously.

"Y-You erased my quirk…"

Aizawa exhaled. "If I hadn't, you would've hurt your arm, just like you did during the exam."

Izumi clenched her fists but took a deep breath. "I won't hurt myself. I've been training—I can control it now."

A familiar, loud voice suddenly interrupted. "Oi, Deku!" Bakugo stomped forward, eyes burning with a fire that sent a chill down Izumi's spine.

Instinctively, she flinched, bracing for his usual explosion of anger—but it didn't come.

Instead, Bakugo's voice lowered. "Why the hell didn't you tell me you had a quirk?" His tone wasn't just angry; it was... something else.

Izumi hesitated before murmuring, "I-I didn't hide it. It… it only appeared ten months ago…" It wasn't a complete lie. Her true quirk had only appeared then.

Bakugo scrutinized her face for any deception before grunting. "Tch. Whatever. Just don't go breaking yourself like a damn idiot."

Izumi smiled slightly at his words before stepping up to throw again. This time, at Full Cowling: 25%, the ball soared through the air. The final result? 26,137 meters.

The students erupted in shock, with Bakugo clenching his fists, visibly frustrated.

However, when he glanced back at Izumi's beaming face, his rage simmered down.

before the test continued Aizawa annoyed that the person who comes last will be expelled, at the end the results of the placement were revealed, with Mineta coming in last.

He was sad about the possibility of being expelled and begged not to be, but Aizawa wasn't hearing it and told him to go to the principal's office.

Izumi came in first, followed by Yaoyorozu and then Shoto Todoroki, which caused Bakugo some annoyance at his failure to reach the top three.

Izumi secured first place, having only been outdone in the ball throw, consecutive side jumps, and the endurance run.

She was the most flexible and excelled in the 50-meter dash, using Full Cowling to achieve a time of 1.28 seconds.

When they returned to the classroom, everyone was chatting, except for a few who chose to be alone while Aizawa was in the principal's office.

Izumi decided to talk to Bakugo, as she had been meaning to thank him for his understanding on the field when she explained the story of her quirk.

She approached him and said, "Kacchan, thank you for not getting angry at me out there."

Bakugo responded, "Why would I be angry?"

Izumi blinked. That was… unexpected. The Bakugo she knew would've exploded—literally—over something like this. But now… he wasn't.

Seeing her confusion, Bakugo scoffed. "Don't overthink it, nerd."

Without thinking, Izumi hugged him, placing a quick kiss on his cheek. "Thanks, Kacchan!"

She quickly ran to her seat, her face burning red. It wasn't until she sat down that she realized what she had just done.

Across the room, Mina and Hagakure smirked at her. "So, Izumi, are you and Bakugo a thing now?"

Izumi let out an undignified squeak, by the end of the day when the final bell rang Izumi ran out not wanting to embarrass herself if faced with Bakugo again.

However, just as she reached the school gate, a firm hand caught her wrist.

She turned, her face already redder than a tomato. "K-Kacchan?!"

"Tch. I'll walk with you, dumbass."

The walk home was silent, but neither let go of the other's hand.

When they reached Bakugo's house, Izumi absentmindedly followed him inside, not realizing where she was until Mitsuki appeared with a smile.

"Dinner will be ready in a bit," she said, but as soon as they walked past her noticing Katsuki holding Izumi's hand to guide her around, her smirk widened.

She rushed to the phone. "Inko? Oh, yeah, I just wanted to let you know—you and I are gonna be grandparents soon!"

Meanwhile, in Bakugo's room, the two sat on his bed. "Izumi, tell me the whole truth. I know you weren't being completely honest earlier." Since you do this thing when you lie by fidgeting with your fingers.

Izumi hesitated before sighing. "Okay… The truth is, I was given my quirk by All Might. It's called One For All…"She explained everything. Afterward, Bakugo was silent, processing.

Then—

"Pfft. Hah!" she snickered. "you look so cute when you're all confused."

"W-WHAAT?!" Bakugo turned red.

Bakugo leaned in. "By the way, why'd you kiss my cheek earlier?"

"I-It was just to thank you!" she stammered.

"Liar. You're fidgeting."

Izumi gulped. "B-Because… I l-like you…", She muttered underneath her breath.

Bakugo froze. "What? You know I can't hear you if you don't speak up."

Flustered, Izumi tried to run—only for Bakugo to grab her and pull her into a deep kiss. "I like you too. Now stop whining, nerd."

Happy, Izumi throws Katsuki onto the bed and flops down on top of him, hugging him as he hugs her back.

Just then, Mitsuki knocks on the door and opens it, calling out, "Brat, dinner's ready!" Upon seeing Katsuki and Izumi hugging, she quickly adds, "Oh, and try not to make me a grandchild too early!" closing the door behind her.

As she leaves the room, Katsuki and Izumi blush. Katsuki then shouts, "SHUT UP, OLD HAG!"

(A/N)[From now on, I will post the status of Izumi at the bottom of each chapter. If you want me to stop, please let me know. Also, Water Breathing counts as a skill because it is an unnatural power system, while Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist does not, as it is simply a martial art. If it were just normal concentration breathing, it would not be considered a skill; however, since it creates water, it qualifies as one. I understand that the water in the anime is not really there, but I chose to present it this way because it seems better]
