Jemimah's POV
After Jay asked me to go on a date with him even though I was shocked, I was happy inwardly.
Olivia came so we promised to talk after school closes.
After closing even though I wasn't really expecting mom to come, I still couldn't help but feel a little glimpse of hope that she would pick me up but she didn't show up. Not long after, Jay saw me and signaled for me to come I was nervous at first but then we are now friends.
I told Olivia that I will be following Jay home since mom isn't picking me up. She teased me after which we bid each other bye.
Mrs Cross told Jay that she would be shopping for groceries, instructed him to be a gentleman and take me home. Jay asked me to go on a date with him once more but this time he told me if we could go during the weekend. He said he liked me and he wants to know my answer concerning it.
I told him that I am going to get back to him coz I need permission from mom and dad. We exchanged contacts and he dropped me off .
I entered the house only to see mom eating fries and watching her f FB baby, how was school today, hope everything is good, I'm sorry I couldn't pick you up, I just came back from the supermarket" . She made a funny which almost made me laugh out loud but instead I feigned anger.
". Mom really, did you know what I went through before I got to school this morning ( duh) you could not even pick me up from school, mom I'm really tired and I want to take a nap, perhaps I'll come downstairs when dad arrives ". I was already leaving when she called out.
" Kelly Jemimah ". She called out to me when I was on the stairs already. Whenever she calls me by my full name it means she's serious about whatever she's about to say
" Yes Mom " I replied while slowly turning to face her.
"I'm sorry baby, mommy didn't mean to hurt you okay, I just wanted to be sure you weren't making excuses to be absent from school ".
Now I was beginning to boil in anger, what does she mean, that I'm a truant
" Ugh ugh ". I scoffed" is that what you think of me now ,a truant, I'll see you later mom". I had no choice but to walk out on her even though I know she's calling my name repeatedly and following me. I ignored her calls and ran with all my might as I go towards my room . I immediately locked the door. Even though she's banging the door I ignored but when it was getting too much I simply told her
" Mom, I'll like to be alone for a bit so that I can rest , school has been stressful today ". She must have gotten my message because the door was no more being banged . It's time to confess to Cynthia. I sighed, I decided to call Cynthia I know she's gonna freak out but it's been a while. After two rings she picked up.
" Hey babe" I tried to be as lively as ever .
" Hey you, why are you calling, do you have a death wish, I know it has been comfortable for you at your new place and you've probably got new friends and maybe boyfriend but that doesn't mean you should forget me completely or Maybe your friends ditched you that's why you're calling right" . She just went on and on I could tell that she was being angry right now and she has every damn right.
" Cynthy dear, I'm sorry and it's none of your options, try and hear me out". I sincerely plead fair hearing.
" Oh really it's not like that, tell me what it is then". I knew she was still freaking but I was determined to win her over so I began to explain.
" So in my new school there's this guy called Jayden, on my first day at school, he tried to act friendly by getting to know me but it went all wrong and I was embarrassed and there's also a girl named Olivia, she stood by me and now we're friends. Out of frustration I told mom I wasn't going to the school again but she didn't hear me out instead she was nagging but sincerely I no longer talked about it anymore since everything's going fine".
I heard her sigh so I stopped talking for some seconds when I was sure she was still on the line, I continued
" But earlier today mom came into my room and brought back the topic that I stopped talking about. Although truth be told Cynthy I think I like Jay but I've avoiding him since that incident until today when I and mom had an argument I left home angrily and Jay saw me on the way and dropped us off school we became friends after which he asked me to go on a date with him ".
" Jemy I'm so sorry, I didn't all of this were going on please forgive me for being too assumptive ". I know Cynthia is very understanding and that's why I chose her as my best friend.
" Cynthy it's okay it's not your fault I should have informed you but I thought I could handle it all alone".
" It's okay babe but what was your reply when he asked you out". I can't help but giggle. Cynthia has been like ever since childhood. She likes gist a lot.
" Well I didn't give him a reply though...." .
" You didn't what you're screwed already I'll give you the beating of your life ".
" Chill honey I told him I was going to ask permission from mom and dad ". I explained
"So what about mum , I've missed her hope you two have settled the misunderstanding ". She asked
" Well no, we haven't, we even had another argument when I came back from school, the reason I'm offended is because she thinks I'm only being a truant that's just an excuse to be away from school ".
"So sorry jemy, I hope you two can finally settle the misunderstanding". she said sympathetically .
" I hope so too I miss my mom and thanks for forgiving me you are one in a million. I Love You dear".
" I Love You too honey pie and I'm sorry for misunderstanding you babe uhhh bye girlie mom is calling me". She said while stretching the uhhh .
" My regards to mummy, bye I'll call you in two days time or lesser " . We are fond each other's mother " mum" since when we were little.
" Same here,bye okay flying kisses" .
" Gotcha, bye muah ". I said before I ended the call.
I dropped my phone as I drifted off to sleep.
