Hailey's POV
The instant we saw the formless cloud monster, I tightened my grip around Vickson's arm, and together with Ava, we jumped out through the portal, vanishing it before the monster could also think to do the same.
We weren't sure where exactly we landed but we knew we were no longer in the rift. We're back to our home—the werewolf world. The place we landed happened to be some tower or some fancy building but it was high enough to give us a view of the entire Kingdom and our pack as well.
"This place is a pile of ruins and debris." I moved my gaze away from Vickson's bleeding shoulder immediately, following the direction Ava's voice came from.
"We were not early enough, the rift's magic already got here."
Ava wasn't mistaken this time. Houses were now mounds of stones and sand. Roads, cars, trees, and all other signs of life lay scattered all over the ground—destroyed, burnt, and crushed.
