I spat on his face and his grip on me constricted. I didn't flinch.
"You think this is a game?" He sounded almost amused, but beneath that was something hard and hungry. "You think Vickson is going to ride to your rescue? That Ethan and Hailey are going to burst in and save the day?"
I stared at him speechless.
He grinned wider. "Let me tell you something, Emilia. They are already too late."
A chill of discomfort twisted in my stomach.
Marcus shoved me aside. He moved deliberately and his footsteps echoing through the empty air "You know, i used to respect you" he told me "Your fire, your courage but now?" He turned to face me and his eyes glinting "Now, I just see a girl who can't recognize when she's lost"
I sneered tough "And i see a man who talks too much"
