{Vickson's POV}
The moment Emilia lunged forward, I barely had time to react.
Her speed was not human. Faster than I had ever seen her move before.
I dodged, barely missing the swipe of her sword as it sliced through the air my neck had been in a second earlier.
"She's going to kill us"
The realization shot ice into my veins.
This wasn't a warning.
I didn't hesitate.
This was a death sentence.
Emilia meant to kill us.
"Emilia don't!" I shouted, hoping and praying that something inside of her would hear my voice.
Her silver eyes flashed.
For a moment, I thought I saw something—a hesitation, a tear in the empty emptiness that had taken her.
Then the man controlling her spoke.
"Do not listen to them," he said silkily, his voice curling around the edges of my mind like a poison. "They are your enemies now."
Emilia's face darkened.
And then she struck again.
I barely had time to block her blow, our swords ringing out in a clear ringing tone that echoed through the air.
