She was just as stubborn as her hair color. As soon as the guard grabbed her hair she stepped on his foot with all the strengths she could muster catching him off guard.
He groaned in pain, slamming her against the wall before she could even act again.
" Ah " A small cry slipped out with her shoulder painfully grazing the rough walls, drawing blood.
" You stubborn thing " He hissed, holding himself back from further harming her as his captain had warned that she might actually be a court maid.
But he had made a mistake by letting her go because as soon as his grip loosened a little.
She spun around swiftly climbing him and wrapping her legs around his neck choking him.
He struggled a little before slamming both himself and her against the wall to get her to fall.
She groaned almost loosing balance before quickly adjusting herself —legs still in place.
He grabbed her legs trying to split them open but she was already locked in that deadly position and she definitely would never let go.
A sharp clicking of tongue behind her—she didn't need to turn to know who it was.
" How stubborn, " He commented still in his sitting position. Unbothered by the tension and killing intent surrounding the cell room.
" Let go! You'll only make things worse for yourself " He adviced looking away again.
" They are going to kill me " She hissed refusing to take his advice. She would rather Kill this one and escape.
The guard wondering who she was talking to while fighting for his life slammed her against the wall again.
This time blood was already leaking from her lips and bruised back but she wasn't going to let go.
Shouting and laying out every curse word the guard began spinning in all directions to throw her off balance and pry her off of him
Trying to reach for his whip rolled and tucked deep in his pants.
" Let go ! " The young boy commanded this time—more firm.
She only stilled for a moment contemplating wether or not it was the right thing but that short period was enough for the guard to rip her off of him,Slamming her to the ground.
" Ahhrghh " She screamed as soon as her back rumbled with the cold and hard ground.
Pain shot through, spreading from her back. Her stolen uniform now torned with blood everywhere.
She tried to get up but her shaking bones gave up on her. She was stupid to fight without a weapon, the strength of the guard alone could surpress her.
" You filthy whore ! " He cursed sending a kick towards her sides almost breaking her hip bone.
How dare this lowly thing. Court maid or not she was an overly suspicious one.
And who the hell was she talking to earlier.
Catching his breath he lifted her weightless self and slung her over his shoulder like a bag of sack.
Unaware of the small figure of a boy watching the whole thing unfold. He almost rolled his eyes at her stupidity.
He had clearly told her not to fight and just comply, that way she would have been more believable to be a court maid.
He knew she wasn't one, definitely wasn't one and her stubbornness had led her to the wounded state she was in.
Weak and wounded she remained limp on his shoulders raising her head to glance at the young boy while the guard began walked away.
" Help " she mouthed eyes watering and pleading.
She didn't want to die, she knew what was next if it was proven that she wasn't actually a court maid but a slave.
He leaned forward then in the pettiest way ever he mouthed
' No '
She didn't need saving, he was too busy for all these drama.
The red haired couldn't understand why he refused to help her this time. He had definitely done it before, why wouldn't he help her again.
' That brat, ' she swore to herself, her anger bubbling up like a storm.
By the time she realized it they were no longer in the passage of cellrooms. She could now see bright light emitting from the windows.
The walls were no longer rough and had a dull grey paint.
There were guards scattered around the dungeon some standing still inside the rain and some patrolling around too regardless of the rain.
It was why mages were more useful, because they were naturally much more stronger than the average human.
They definitely could withstand the cold and still carry on their duties.
The cold breeze was sharp, bitting into her skin and making her body shudder uncontrollably.
The rain began pelting on the fresh wound on her back and she stirred in pain from the sting.
The guard only tightened his grip while casually heading to the front building.
Hundreds of court maids were already standing in rows under the small shed slightly shivering—heads bowed, hands folded as always.
With thumping footsteps the guard came to a halt he dropped the girl rather roughly on the floor before moving away.
He was now speaking with the captain no one knew what they were talking about but everyone were shocked to see the supposedly court maid in a very bruised state.
The cheif court maid were rather stoic, her face void of any emotion as she scrutinize the young girl crouched on the ground in the rain.
Maurice was lined at the back as she was newly employed she wouldn't recognize all of the court maids so they had lined the old and experienced ones in the front.
But why was she so anxious ?
Something told her Ravenna was the one behind her missing uniform and now they were here to confirm if this lady was indeed a court maid
What if the lady in the rain was Ravenna ?
Her heart hammered against her chest the fear of Ravenna getting in trouble made her scared.
She knew Ravenna was important—her mother had tried hiding it but the worry on the woman's face that night told her everything she needed to know.
That Ravenna was different from the average mortals.
Her hair she always tried to hide was proof.
The captain stood up as they grabbed the lady by the hair to reveal her face
" Does anyone here know this court maid ? " The loud and gruffy voice sent shivers down their spine despite the rain.
Maurice couldn't handle it any longer and without thinking she sprinted forward —pushing through the crowd towards the girl in the rain.
She needed to do this before anyone else answered
" I know her " she desperately shouted so everyone could hear.
She then turned towards the girl crouching down to whisper but to her surprise this girl wasn't Ravenna....
