"After everyone has had a short rest, I will send them to the various battlefields," Minato said, his voice firm yet calm, addressing the gathered ninja forces.
Before departing Konoha, Minato provided the leaders of the Konoha troops on each battlefield with specific coordinates, enabling him to use his Flying Thunder God Technique to teleport reinforcements directly where they were needed. His meticulous planning drew nods of approval from Hiruzen Sarutobi and the other high-ranking officials present. Even Danzo, often critical of Minato's leadership, could not find fault in his tactical brilliance.
The swift victory over the Sunagakure forces was a significant turning point for Konoha in the Third Ninja World War. It showcased Minato's unparalleled capabilities as both a leader and a shinobi. Yet, the war was far from over.
"Boom! Boom!"
A knock at the door of the war council room interrupted the meeting.
"Come in," Hiruzen called, his voice steady but curious.
A Konoha messenger ninja stepped in, urgency etched on his face. Without a word, he handed Hiruzen a scroll marked with a bold red line—a symbol of high-priority intelligence.
Minato's eyes narrowed at the sight. Urgent messages often carried grave news, and the weight of responsibility pressed heavily on his shoulders.
Hiruzen unrolled the scroll and scanned its contents. His frown deepened as he absorbed the report, and the room grew tense. After a moment, he looked up and addressed the council. "Our scouts have reported a Cloud Ninja surprise attack force moving towards the border of the Land of Hot Springs."
The revelation sent a ripple of unease through the room. Homura Mitokado, one of Konoha's elder advisors, quickly deduced the situation. "It seems Kumogakure intends to capitalize on Sunagakure's defeat. By pressing forward now, they aim to stretch Konoha's defenses thin and secure a foothold near the Land of Fire."
Minato nodded, his expression grave. "Given their timing, the Cloud Ninja must have planned this assault well in advance. They likely dispatched their surprise attack force while their main forces remained behind to prepare for a larger offensive."
Homura added, "The Kumo forces are known for their speed and lightning prowess. Their elite troops—those above Special Jonin level—will undoubtedly lead the charge. This could include their Jinchūriki, wielding the power of the Eight-Tails."
The mention of the Eight-Tails silenced the room. The thought of facing a bijū on the battlefield was daunting, even for Konoha's seasoned warriors.
Hiruzen broke the silence. "Tsunade has already mobilized her forces to intercept the Cloud Ninja, but the situation remains precarious. If the enemy advances further, they could reach the border of the Land of Fire, threatening our supply lines and endangering our allies."
Minato's mind raced. The Cloud Ninja's speed and aggression posed a significant threat, especially if their forces collided with Konoha's before reinforcements arrived. His concern deepened as he considered the strategic implications. "We must act swiftly," he said, his voice resolute. "I request permission to lead reinforcements to the front lines immediately."
Hiruzen hesitated. While Minato's skill was unquestionable, Konoha's resources were stretched thin. Sending Minato alone seemed risky, but mobilizing additional forces would leave the village vulnerable.
"Minato," Hiruzen began, his tone heavy with concern, "you've just returned from the Sunagakure front. Are you certain you're ready for another battle?"
Minato met Hiruzen's gaze, his determination unwavering. "I still have more than half of my chakra reserves, and I can manage the rest with my techniques. This is not the time for hesitation. If we delay, the consequences could be disastrous."
Realizing the urgency of the situation, Hiruzen relented. "Very well, but promise me this: prioritize your safety above all else. Even if the Cloud Ninja push the battle line closer, your life is more important than holding the position."
"Understood, Hokage-sama," Minato replied with a bow. He knew the weight of his role and the trust placed in him. Failure was not an option.
With Hiruzen's approval, Minato vanished in a flash of light, leaving the council room in stunned silence.
At the Border of the Land of Hot Springs
Minato reappeared beneath a jagged cliff overlooking a small plain. The air was tense, filled with the faint hum of chakra and the distant clamor of approaching forces. He recognized the terrain immediately—several kilometers from Izumi Town, a strategic point near the border.
As Minato surveyed the area, a sharp gaze locked onto him. He turned to see Hatake Sakumo, the White Fang of Konoha, standing amidst a group of Konoha ninja. Despite his composed demeanor, Sakumo's eyes betrayed his surprise. "Minato? The war on the Sunagakure front is over already?"
Minato nodded. "Yes. The situation here sounded urgent, so I came to assist."
Sakumo's expression shifted from shock to admiration. Few shinobi could claim Minato's efficiency in both combat and strategy. "Your timing is impeccable," Sakumo said. "But things are dire. The Cloud Ninja's surprise attack force is faster and more coordinated than we anticipated."
Minato's gaze moved past Sakumo to a figure leaning against a boulder. Orochimaru, one of the legendary Sannin, looked unusually pale. His sharp features were marred by signs of fatigue and injury.
"Senior Orochimaru," Minato said, concern flashing in his blue eyes. "Who did this to you?"
