Amora's magic surged like a living beast, the sheer force of it slamming Valeria into the gnarled bark of an ancient tree. The impact cracked through the air, her body arching in agony as pain rippled through her ribs. She gasped, choking on her own breath, her vision blurring from the force.
Before she could even attempt to recover, cold fingers wrapped around her throat.
"Pathetic," Amora purred, lifting her slightly off the ground, her grip tightening just enough to make Valeria choke.
A sickly green glow crackled in Amora's free hand, swirling tendrils of cursed magic writhing like serpents, pulsing with an unnatural life of their own. The sorceress smirked as she pressed her palm flat against Valeria's bare stomach.
The pain was instant.
Agony unlike anything Valeria had ever felt tore through her. Her body convulsed violently as the cursed energy invaded her veins, burning her from the inside out. It felt as if molten metal had been poured beneath her skin, setting her nerves ablaze.
"AGHHHHHHHHHH—!"
Her scream ripped through the night, raw and broken.
Amora's laughter rang out, sultry and cruel. She leaned in, lips brushing against Valeria's ear.
"You deserve so much worse," she whispered. Then, with a vicious tug, she yanked Valeria's head back by her hair, exposing her trembling throat. "But why stop at you?"
With a flick of her wrist, Amora's magic lashed outward, dark tendrils coiling like a whip. They shot through the air, wrapping around something—no, someone—and dragging them into the open.
Aiden.
His body skidded across the dirt before landing at Amora's feet. He groaned weakly, trying to push himself up, but Amora's magic seized him, locking his limbs in place.
"No—! Aiden, run—!" Valeria sobbed, her voice hoarse.
Amora merely smirked. "Run? Oh, my dear, he's not going anywhere."
The sorceress knelt, trailing a single finger down Aiden's chest. The moment she made contact, dark sigils flared to life across his skin, searing into him like brands.
Aiden's entire body arched violently.
His scream was pure agony.
Valeria's breath caught in her throat as she watched him writhe. His muscles locked, his fingers clawing into the dirt as the magic devoured him from the inside. His veins blackened, bulging against his skin like writhing parasites.
He screamed again. Louder.
His body convulsed, spasming against the ground.
Valeria thrashed in Amora's grip, desperate. "STOP! PLEASE—HE'S INNOCENT!"
Tears burned her eyes, but Amora only threw her head back and laughed, drinking in the suffering.
"Innocent?" she mused, running her nails slowly down Aiden's trembling arm, drawing blood. "Perhaps. But that won't last long."
Amora's grin widened as she leaned down, whispering, "When I'm done, I'll bring him back with my necromancy… and he'll take you. Over. And over. And you'll know it's your fault."
Valeria's stomach plummeted.
Her breath hitched, the horror sinking into her bones.
Amora laughed, her voice a melody of cruelty. With a flick of her fingers, her magic ripped through Valeria's clothing, shredding the fabric until it hung in tattered remnants.
She stared. Admired.
"You are beautiful," Amora admitted, her fingers tracing Valeria's collarbone. "But you will never rival me."
Then she turned her gaze back to Aiden, her hand glowing once more.
Valeria could only watch, helpless, as Amora raised her hand—
And then—
A massive, clawed hand shot forward from the darkness.
It clamped around Amora's throat with a force that sent the air crackling.
Not a human hand.
A dragon's.
Thick, scaled fingers tightened like a vice, talons sinking into Amora's flesh, drawing blood.
Amora gasped, her eyes flying open in shock.
Behind her, Aiden stood.
Only—he was no longer Aiden.
Crimson scales ran up his arm, his fingers ending in razor-sharp claws. His pupils had become slits, glowing with a terrifying, inhuman rage.
When he spoke, his voice was not human.
It was a growl. A snarl. A dragon's fury unleashed.
"You talk too much."
...
The curse buildup in Aiden's body finally reached its limit, and something inside him snapped.
{Curse Dragon Slayer Magic Obtained}
The pain Amora inflicted had only made him stronger. His magic replenished itself with every ounce of torment she had forced upon him. Water Magic swirled around his body, healing his wounds, mending the damage as if it never existed. But his grip on her never wavered.
Even as she scratched at his hands, desperately trying to pry herself free, her nails digging into his flesh—he didn't care. He only watched as her struggles grew weaker, her eyes flickering as consciousness started slipping away.
Then, he let go.
But not out of mercy.
Before she could even gasp for air, Aiden grabbed her feet, hoisting her into the air.
"NO! PLEASE—NO!"
Her voice was filled with true terror.
SLAM!
Aiden smashed her face-first into the ground, the impact splattering blood everywhere. Bone cracked, flesh ripped, and the once-arrogant witch became a quivering wreck.
Yet, she wasn't dead.
Aiden walked forward, his footsteps slow, methodical—as if savoring the moment.
Amora, barely alive, tried to crawl away. Her fingers clawed at the dirt, dragging her broken body inch by inch.
But it was pointless.
Aiden crouched, and turned her to face him, grabbing her hair, forcing her to look up at him.
Her face was completely disfigured. Her nose crushed, her jaw barely intact, teeth scattered across the floor like broken glass.
Aiden's lips curled into a smirk.
"That's more like it…" he murmured. His voice was dark, cold. He tilted his head, eyes gleaming. "That's your real face."
Amora tried to speak. But all that came out was a gurgle. Blood poured from her mouth, soaking the dirt beneath her.
Aiden exhaled, as if disappointed.
"I'd love to torture you more… for what you did to all those heroes." His fingers tightened in her hair. "For all the people your curse has destroyed… for my father."
His tone dropped lower, rage seeping into every word.
"For what you did to Thor."
His grip tightened even further.
"And for Valeria."
Amora's one working eye widened.
"But honestly…" Aiden sighed, his shoulders relaxing. "I don't have time."
CRACK.
He stomped down on her foot. The bones shattered instantly.
A muffled, agonized scream erupted from Amora's broken mouth.
CRACK.
The other foot.
CRUNCH.
One hand.
CRUNCH.
The other.
Aiden watched silently as her body twitched and convulsed. Her limbs—nothing but mangled wrecks.
He flexed his fingers, his magic flaring to life.
Flames erupted from his hands, but these weren't the flames of his Fire Dragon Slayer Magic.
They were something darker. Crueler.
Amora looked up at him, what little strength she had left fading. Tears mixed with the blood staining her ruined face.
She wanted to scream.
She wanted to beg.
But before she could—
Aiden dropped the fire upon her.
Her entire body vaporized.
Not a scream.
Not a sound.
Nothing remained.
....
Aiden let out a slow breath, his body relaxing as the flames faded into the night.
From the distance—Valeria had seen everything.
She had watched his return.
She had witnessed the torture.
The execution.
But more than that—she saw something different in him.
Aiden turned to face her, his body illuminated by the fading embers.
His eyes…
They were no longer crimson like his Fire Magic.
Nor were they azure like his Azure Form.
Nor were they white like his Light Form.
What stared back at Valeria were hollow, black voids.
Something dark had awakened.
Aiden exhaled, his voice quiet. "Sorry you had to see that."
He removed his tattered jacket, what little remained of it, and wrapped it around Valeria's chest.
She shivered—not from the cold, but from the overwhelming emotions crashing over her.
She clutched the fabric close. "No… thank you."
Then, her voice broke.
"Aiden… we lost. Again."
Aiden didn't hesitate.
He cupped her cheeks gently, looking straight into her eyes.
"No. We haven't."
Before she could respond, he reached into his pocket, pulling out a small device.
He placed it in her hands.
"This contains the location of a bunker," he said. "Inside, there's a portal. To my world."
Valeria's breath hitched.
He continued. "It's been four days. The portal will close in three."
She shook her head. "What…?"
"Take my father," Aiden said firmly. "Wait there. If three days pass and I don't come—go through it. If someone comes, and it's not me—go through it."
His hands tightened around hers.
"Please, Valeria. Live."
Valeria was shocked, about to protest—
About to scream at him—tell him she would never leave him.
But she couldn't.
Because his lips were pressed against hers.
A desperate, urgent kiss.
Aiden pulled away, his voice soft—
"Please…" he begged her.
"Go…"
His voice trembled.
"I don't know if I'll survive…"
His eyes held pain, love, and truth.
"But I'm not one to die easily," he said with a smirk, though it didn't reach his eyes. "This is just so I can have some peace of mind."
He gently touched her cheek.
"Knowing that you and my dad are safe."
Valeria looked into his eyes.
Sincere.
Promising.
Filled with love.
She had so much to say.
So much to ask.
But alas…
She loved him.
And she didn't want to disappoint him.
Didn't want to be in his way.
Her heart ached as she whispered, "Okay… I will… I'll go."
Aiden smiled softly. "Thank you."
Then—
Without another word—
He turned and jumped toward the castle.
Once again…
He was returning.
