With Brunhilde dead, the tide of battle had shifted dramatically in favor of the resistance. Elsa and Bucky led their forces from the east, carving through the castle's defenses with relentless precision. News of Moonstone's fall had spread quickly—an expected outcome, yet still a significant blow to Thor's forces.
Now, only two fronts remained contested. To the north, Aiden stood alone, no resistance fighters at his side, preparing for whatever would come next. To the south, where the final battle was destined to take place, Elsa and Bucky advanced toward the thickest concentration of Thor's remaining warriors.
.....
Meanwhile, in the south, the battlefield was a chaotic storm of clashing steel and energy blasts. The Resistance, led by Valeria, fought fiercely against Asgardian warriors and elite Valkyries. Valeria's deep-blue Iron Man-inspired suit cut through the ranks like a meteor, plasma beams and concussive blasts hammering enemy lines with precision. She was a scientist first and foremost, but war had forced her into becoming something else entirely—something efficient.
Her mind worked at impossible speeds, calculating probabilities, mapping battle formations, anticipating weaknesses. The enemy was formidable, but she was superior.
At least, until he showed up.
Daken.
His presence alone sent a ripple of unease through the battlefield. Unlike the disciplined Asgardians or even the bloodthirsty Valkyries, Daken fought for one reason—because he enjoyed killing. Clad in a dark combat suit, his claws gleamed as he stepped onto the field, eyes locking onto Valeria with a predatory smirk. His reputation preceded him—feral speed, combat mastery, and a healing factor that was practically limitless.
Valeria's eyes flickered behind her visor, scanning him instantly.
'Subject: Daken
Known abilities: Enhanced strength, superhuman speed, heightened senses, retractable claws.
Primary threat: Near-instantaneous regeneration.
Tactical assessment: High danger. Direct combat not advised'
"Metal suit, huh?" Daken's voice was a growl, sharp and brimming with malice. "You think you can hide behind that tin can? I bet you bleed just like everyone else."
"I prefer to think of it as an intellectual advantage," Valeria responded, voice smooth, almost mechanical. "You see, I don't fight fair. I fight to win."
Daken grinned, then lunged.
He was fast—faster than he should be. Valeria barely had time to activate her repulsors, blasting herself backward as his claws slashed through the air where she had stood a millisecond before. He hit the ground in a roll and sprang at her again.
'Calculate trajectory. Redirect. Counter'
Her suit's thrusters kicked in, twisting her body mid-air as she unleashed a barrage of micro-missiles. They locked onto Daken's position and exploded in a precise spread—each blast calculated to box him in, limit his movement.
But he was already moving before the first missile hit.
Daken weaved through the detonations, closing the distance faster than her processors could predict. He was fighting on instinct, pure lethal efficiency, while she was relying on superior technology and intelligence.
A lethal combination, but only if she stayed ahead.
Valeria raised her arm, repulsor charging—
Too slow.
Daken was on her. His claws scraped across her shoulder plate, sparks flying as he carved into the titanium-alloy composite. Valeria twisted, an energy blade deploying from her wrist, slashing toward his midsection. The blade connected, cutting deep—
Only for him to heal instantly.
Her mind adjusted.
'Solution: Direct damage ineffective. Adjust approach. Prioritize immobilization'
She rocketed backward, creating distance, her mind shifting strategies in real-time. Daken was smirking, flexing his claws, blood dripping—before the wounds sealed within seconds.
"This is fun," he said. "You are bleeding under there, aren't you?"
"Hardly."
She activated a sonic pulse emitter. A shockwave rippled through the battlefield, a sound tuned specifically to disrupt enhanced senses. Daken flinched, growling as he clutched his ears.
'Disorient. Immobilize. Execute'
Valeria fired twin repulsor beams, hammering him backward. Before he could recover, she was on him, her suit's mechanical strength slamming him into the ground. Restraints deployed, locking around his limbs, injecting a paralysis agent designed to counter mutant physiology.
It should have worked.
It would have worked.
But Daken was stronger than anticipated.
With a feral snarl, he snapped the restraints like paper. A brutal kick sent Valeria flying back, her armor absorbing the impact but not the force. She landed hard, systems recalibrating.
Daken was relentless. He leapt onto her, claws piercing into her armor, tearing at the plating. Sparks erupted. Warnings flashed across her HUD.
'Structural integrity compromised. Defensive protocols engaged'
Her mind remained calm. He thought he had her. He thought he was winning.
But he wasn't.
Because she had led him exactly where she wanted him to be.
She didn't need to say anything. The moment his claws reared back for the killing strike—
A crack echoed across the battlefield.
A high-powered shot rang out, tearing through Daken's skull. His body jerked violently, his momentum stolen as he staggered. Valeria used the opening to disengage, her thrusters flaring as she propelled herself out of his range.
Daken growled, already healing—
"Hi Val? miss me"
Then he looked up.
And saw Elsa Bloodstone standing atop the ruined castle walls, sniper rifle in hand, a cold smirk on her face.
Daken wiped blood from his lips, staring up at the two women who had just put a bullet in his skull. His wounds were already sealing, fresh pink tissue knitting together as if nothing had happened.
Elsa Bloodstone cocked her rifle with a smirk. "See, Val? That's how you get a man's attention. Proper foreplay."
Valeria Richards sighed, already irritated. "Foreplay implies there's a payoff. But considering how utterly useless that was—"
Daken's chuckle cut her off. "Oh, don't stop now, ladies. I love a good catfight." He rolled his shoulders, claws extending with a sharp snikt. "Though, I gotta say, I expected more from the legendary Bloodstone. You shoot me in the head and don't even follow up? I'm hurt."
Elsa flashed him a grin. "Oh, sweetheart, you will be."
Daken's smirk widened, eyes gleaming with amusement. "So what's the plan? Tin Can over there keeps shooting while you throw insults?"
Elsa shrugged. "More or less."
Valeria rolled her eyes. "This is exactly why I hate working with you."
"Correction." Elsa leveled her shotgun. "We work fantastically together. You're just a controlling pain in the ass."
Daken laughed. "This is adorable. You two really are the worst teammates I've ever seen." He flicked blood from his claws. "Honestly? You're making this too easy."
Then he moved
Elsa fired first—close-range, point-blank blast—but Daken was already inside her guard. His claws raked across her shoulder before she could react, slicing through leather and drawing blood.
Valeria fired a repulsor blast—he twisted out of the way and drove an elbow into Elsa's gut, sending her stumbling into the line of fire.
Valeria yanked her shot at the last second, scowling. "Do not get in my way, you reckless lunatic!"
Elsa wheezed, straightening. "And you need to aim better, you glorified calculator!"
Daken grinned. Oh, this was too good.
Elsa lunged again—wild, reckless swings with her shotgun like a club. Daken sidestepped with ease, slashing across her thigh before pivoting toward Valeria—who had already adjusted, predicting his movement.
She fired.
Daken smirked—then ripped Elsa in front of the blast, using her as a human shield.
Elsa screamed as the repulsor shot hit her square in the back.
Daken laughed, shoving her aside like a ragdoll. "C'mon, girls! This is embarrassing!"
Valeria's hands curled into fists. "Elsa, get your shit together!"
Elsa groaned, pushing herself up. "Oh, bite me, you spoiled trust fund baby! Maybe if you stopped calculating for two damn seconds and actually fought—"
"—Maybe if you had half a brain, I wouldn't have to compensate for your idiotic swings!"
Daken just stood there, grinning. Perfect. They were unraveling. All he had to do was let them tear each other apart.
"God, you're insufferable!" Elsa shouted.
"And you're a barbaric idiot!"
Daken made his move.
Daken was fast. That much, Elsa and Valeria already knew. His mistake was assuming that they weren't just as fast.
He lunged between them, claws flashing. Elsa juked left, shotgun swinging up to parry his strike—not block it, but redirect—knocking his claws just wide enough that Valeria could step in.
Valeria was already moving. A repulsor blast fired, forcing Daken to duck—only for Elsa's knee to slam into his gut.
Daken grunted but turned with the hit, bringing an elbow up—
Elsa leaned back, letting it skim past her chin. In the same breath, she snapped her head forward, headbutting him hard enough to make his nose crunch.
Daken stumbled—just long enough for Valeria to take her shot.
Boom.
A hard-light construct slammed into his ribs, sending him staggering into Elsa's waiting arms.
She grinned. "Awww, did you actually think we were losing?"
Daken snarled and exploded forward, using his full strength now. He swung hard at Elsa's throat—
She ducked, but not quite fast enough. His claws raked across her shoulder, sending sparks of pain down her arm.
"Shit—"
Daken pressed the advantage, his claws flashing toward her gut—only for Valeria to intercept, a hard-light shield flaring into existence between them.
Clang!
Daken rebounded, shaking his stinging claws. "Oh, come on!"
Elsa seized the moment—lunging forward, driving the butt of her shotgun into Daken's knee.
Crack.
Daken's leg buckled.
Valeria didn't even hesitate—she spun around him, a calculated movement, and kicked the back of his other knee.
Daken collapsed—one knee down.
Elsa chambered a round. "Y'know," she said, "you're an absolute idiot if you really thought we weren't good at working together."
Daken's eye twitched. "What?"
Valeria smirked. "She's right, you know." Her repulsors hummed as she raised a hand. "Elsa and I are best friends. It'd be stupid if we didn't know how to work together."
Elsa tilted her head mockingly. "Tragic, really."
Daken lunged—Elsa shot his kneecap out.
Boom.
His leg exploded in a spray of blood and bone.
Daken howled, but Valeria was already moving.
An energy mine flickered in her palm—then she slammed it against his chest.
The explosion blasted Daken backward.
Elsa twirled her shotgun. "And that's how you kill a Wolverine knockoff."
Daken's body twitched, muscles already knitting together.
Elsa groaned. "Oh, for fu—"
Before his skull could fully reform, Valeria snapped a high-tech collar around his half-regrown neck.
A pulse of energy surged through him.
Daken's claws retracted. His healing stopped.
Elsa nudged his barely-conscious form with her boot. "And that, my dear, is checkmate."
Daken gasped, glaring. "You bitches—"
Elsa cracked her rifle against his skull.
Lights out.
Elsa stretched. "Alright, now who's next?"
Valeria didn't respond.
She had stopped moving.
Her eyes locked onto something only she could see.
Elsa frowned. "Oi, what now?"
Valeria turned to her.
Her voice was steady.
"It has started."
Elsa's expression darkened.
"Aiden and Thor are about to clash."
