Destiny's POV
I let Red walk me back home, even though part of me was still unsure about everything. But there was something comforting about his quiet presence beside me: he matched my pace without saying much. It was… easy.
Just as we reached the house's front steps, Lela stepped outside, her expression lighting up the moment she saw us.
"Well, well," she grinned. "I want to catch up so badly, but we've got a wave of arrivals this morning, and I have to report to work ASAP."
She glanced between us, her eyes twinkling with curiosity—too much curiosity.
"I'll see you later, Des. Atty. Galvez," she added with a teasing smile, her tone light but meaningful, before hurrying off down the path with a skip in her step.
I watched her go, shaking my head with a small laugh under my breath.
She was always like that—straightforward, bubbly, and impossible to hide anything from.
