There were scholars, experts, and erudite individuals who recognized that this Plane was on an accelerating path toward corruption and ruin. The number of people suffering from mental illnesses was climbing year by year, and any Continent could become the next Dark Continent at any moment—eight, seven, six... until eventually humanity would be completely annihilated.
Many knew this to be true.
Yet they were helpless to conceive of a solution.
The world was like a prison, with no outer space to escape to; they were powerless to reclaim the Dark Continent, let alone venture to the Outer Plane. All such notions were mere flights of fancy and idle talk. In the end, they were unable to find any means to stop it all, or to seek new hope.
