Ellie : "He's the darkest, of all the souls I've seen, he's the darkest of them all."
*Everyone in the room looks at Colt in horror whose face remained expressionless until now*
*Slowly, a demonic grin is drawn on his face*
*The room remains silent for a few seconds, Colt's smile intimidating everyone even more, then Luna speaks*
Luna [calmly and curiously] : "Why are you so amused by this?"
Colt [laughing] : "Come on, that was the best introduction I've ever received in my life."
Luna [in a playful tone]: "So that's your priority.. Not your identity you worked so hard on?"
Colt [shrugs] : "Eh, what can we do.."
Victor [Finally getting over his fear , screaming] : "GUARDS, ATTACK!!"
Ellie [in terror] : "DON'T!!"
*Colt activates "static" rendering everyone in the room immobile except only Luna*
Colt [to Victor, in a terrifying tone] : "Wait there, you'll get your turn."
*Victor frustrated, mad, and a bit terrified keeps humming*
*Colt surrounds them with a soundproof barrier with him and Luna outside of it*
Colt [to Luna in a very calm and amused tone] : "What were we talking about? Ah, my identity, it doesn't matter at this point… they know that I can kill them in an instant now *smiles, looks at them* just look at their faces."
*Shows the guards ,Violet, Ellie , Luc and Lea's expressions, Victor is more angry than scared though*
Luna : "I really don't think you should be enjoying this as much as you are now, can you at least reassure them ?"
Colt [in a playful tone] : "But it's fun."
Luna : "Cooolt"
Colt : "Yeah, fine."
*Colt drops the soundproof barrier*
Colt[leaning with his head on his hand] : "As you can all see, you're all under my mercy, and I can kill you whenever I choose."
Luna : "That's your idea of reassuring??"
Colt [raises his head to look at her] : "That means I want them no harm or I would've killed them already, ah, now it's ruined."
Colt [sighs, looks at the terrified frozen people] : "So yeah, I don't want to hurt anyone here, so will you please drop your weapons and talk like civilized people?*looks at Victor who was always staring Colt with a defiant look* especially you, believe me, you'll gain nothing by making an enemy out of me."
*Stops the spell for the Starleas only, the guards are still frozen*
*Victor looks at Ellie, Ellie nods*
Victor [glaring at Colt, with a tone that's full of suspicion and a bit of malice] : "We'll talk, but release the guards first, they've done nothing."
Colt : "First order them to seize their attack and clear the room."
*Victor looks at the guards, nods*
*Colt stops the spell, the guards sheathe their swords and leave with eyes full of suspicion*
*Everyone stays silent for a few seconds, tensions are high*
Colt : "I believe proper introductions are in order.. I am Colt and this is my wife Luna"
Luc [sensing his entire reality was a lie, in a broken tone] : "Even the names are a lie."
Colt : "We'll get to that, for now-"
Luna [in a firm tone] : "I want to tell them everything."
Colt [looks at her, surprised] : "Are you sure?"
Luna : "I am * looks at the family* they're kind people."
Colt : "As you wish… Not that they can do anything about it."
*Stops the appearance altering spell, Luna's hair slowly shifts back to white, her eyes regain their red color, her ears slowly reappear*
*Everyone stares and gasps in awe*
Luna [confused] : "Strange. Why was it slow this time?"
Colt [smiling] : "No reason, just some showmanship."
Luna [a bit mad] : "Really, now? *sighs* Please take this seriously."
Colt [laughing] : "Alright, no more tricks."
Lea : "Laverna, you're.. an elf?! Does that mean..*looks at Colt*"
Luna [smiling] : "No, Colt is human, and please, outside the academy call me Luna from now on…"
Luc : "Why didn't you tell us any of this?"
Colt : "It was too dangerous, I didn't want our life to be disturbed, so we decided to lay low, act like any other student, play it safe."
Ellie [Finally finding the voice to speak, still shaken to her core] : "Lies !!! You can't be human, that's impossible, what are you?"
I can't resist.
Colt [in a dramatic tone] : "I'm a being that surpasses this world, I am able to unimaginable things, bring destruction, and-"
Luna : "He's a human with special magic powers."
Colt : "LUNA!"
Luna : "You can mess with your enemies all you want but these are our friends."
Colt : "Fine, *looks at the Starleas* that's the long and short of it."
Ellie : "It's not your powers, it's your soul, I can't tell what motivates you, it's not power, greed, passion, lust, it's just void."
Colt : "So that's your question, I mean... I have everything I want, I have no enemies, a wife that loves me, I'm outside of the control of any power in this world, *looks at Victor* no one looks down on me and lives*shrugs* what more do I want?"
Ellie : "But your soul is dark, how many lives have you taken?"
Colt [indifferent] : "About three squads of bandits and a pig."
Victor : "A pig?"
Colt [nervous smile] : "Never mind that."
Colt : "Anything else?"
Luc [his reality is crumbling even more] : "How? You said you couldn't take lives.. how can you sleep at night?"
Colt [stands up, points at him] : "Now you're irritating me the most, you really think, in a world like this one, you can protect anything without taking lives? Your father said it, this world is unforgiving and might I add cruel, that's why your father said you're not ready, also *smiles* I sleep very well at night thank you."
Luc [In denial] : "No…"
Colt : "I'm done with this*looks at Victor* how many people have you killed? I know you killed a few at least, your eyes say it all."
Victor [unable to look his son in the eyes] : "It was 20 years ago, when there were 7 kingdoms, it was a scuffle between kingdoms, me and my father were recruited, we had to defend the borders… I took many lives back then, and after that, bandits who kept attacking this domain, we once captured them alive, and they escaped and killed many people, that was the only permanent solution."
Colt : "Why are you averting your gaze? Look you son in the eyes. You protected this place. You should be proud. You gave your son a peaceful existence, peaceful enough to make him this naïve *points through the window* Those people are alive thanks to you."
Luna [Watching Victor and Luc, worried] : "Colt, that's enough."
Colt [looks at Luna with a very serious look] : "Not this time, they need this. *speaks to Victor* Do you regret what you did?"
Victor [stands up] : "No, I performed my duty."
Colt : "Then stand proud and look your son in the eyes."
*Victor clenches his fist, looks Luc in the eyes, Luc's eyes reflect his emotions : disillusion, sadness*
Luc : "Father.. I…"
Victor : "It's the truth Luc, I'm sorry."
*Violet goes beside Victor, takes his hand*
Luc [In shock, denial, still clinging to his beliefs] : "But about justice? What about our moralities? What-"
Luna : "Colt don't-"
*Colt raises his index finger*
Colt : "He needs to wake up, I'm drilling into his thick skull what took me years to understand."
Colt [to Luc, in a stern tone, his hatred is leaking with every word] : "Justice, morality, tradition, it's all a load of horse crap… justice is what the powerful decide, tell me, do you know how other nobles treat commoners?? Bet your father does."
*Victor nods, looking down*
Colt : "Can you tell me why are they allowed to keep abusing people like that?"
Luc : "Because.. because.."
Colt : "You can't answer that can you? I'll tell you it's because they're in power, they make the rules, why? Because they have more magic capacity, because they train in magic more, because they have more knowledge at their fingertips, that's why… now tell me, can a commoner insult a noble? Can a commoner defend himself against a noble?"
Luc [in a weak voice] : "They'll be executed."
Colt : "Now tell me mister high and mighty, is that justice?"
*Luc remains silent, immobile*
Colt : "And according to your moralities, this is wrong yes? So why aren't you or your father doing anything about it?"
*Victor looks at Luc, then at Colt, then looks away*
Colt : "I'll tell you, it's because you can't, you don't have enough influence, you don't have enough power, you only have those ideals, that's morality."
*Everyone watches Colt's onslaught of horrifying truths with awe, silence and shame, for in mere moments, Colt has destroyed every belief, every mask, forcing them to face the ugly truth of the world*
*Lea's looking away in obvious pain, since she can relate*
*Violet's shame appears on her face knowing it's the truth they've been ignoring*
*Ellie is still terrified for what she sees can not be seen by others, and the darkness and void around Colt appear to be endless*
Colt : "And then there is tradition which is the stupidest thing I've ever seen… people would die for tradition when it's just "we found our parents and their parents doing it" when times change you abandon tradition."
*Colt's breathing gets heavy from all the talking, he sits back down, conjures some water in his mouth and drinks it, Luna ,sensing how he feels, holds his hand, Colt covers his eyes with the other hand, taking heavy fast breathes, silence envelopes the room for a long time*
*Then Luc finally speaks*
Luc : "Why?"
*Everyone looks at him*
Luc [Yelling in frustration, pain, and anger] : "Why did you befriend us? Why did you come here? Why did you shatter everything I believe in? Why? Why? *his tone lowers, to a low broken tone* you destroyed everything.. all of it.. I don't even know who I am anymore."
*Victor goes to his son, takes his hand, stands him up and hugs him*
Victor : "You are Luc Starlea, my son, a very kind soul, that'll never change."
Luc [tears start to run down his face] : "Thank you father."
