Can we win?
When Chu Zihang heard this question, he couldn't help but want to laugh.
Don't joke around. As the young master of the Gattuso family, it's not a matter of winning or losing, it's about certain death!
If reality weren't some kind of pay-to-win game, even if all of them gathered together, they'd probably still be no match for the "White King"—just enough to fill the gaps between his teeth.
Thinking about his life possibly being near its end, Chu Zihang slowly lifted his head. Surprisingly, his heart felt oddly calm.
There was no fear of death in his mind, nor any thought of retreating. Instead, his thoughts wandered to his mother, back in the ancient Eastern country, wondering what she would think when she learned about this.
Hmm. Mom has always been so careless. She'll probably be sad for a long time.
But at least that man will take care of her. Though, he wasn't sure if he'd remember to tell her to drink milk before bed every night.
It was strange. Even though he stood on the battlefield of dragon slayers, about to face the most terrifying enemy, Chu Zihang remained calm. His expression was serene, as if he were a monk meditating in a temple.
"You're really calm. I've never admired you this much before." Caesar, feeling the tension, thought his heart might burst from his chest.
Yet, the person beside him remained completely composed. He couldn't help but ask, "Can you tell me what you're thinking right now?"
"I'm thinking about how to send the luxury cosmetics I bought to my mom," Chu Zihang answered honestly.
He was genuinely concerned. After all, if he died here, it wasn't just that the items would go to waste—it was that his mom wouldn't receive them, which would be a bigger problem.
Confirmed. This person is definitely insane!
Caesar's eyelid twitched. The thought of fighting side by side with this kind of person—and possibly dying in the great dragon-slaying battle—was giving him a headache.
But, weirdly enough, it didn't feel so bad. Thanks to Chu Zihang, his own nerves had calmed down a little.
"Principal Hilbert, just to ask," Caesar took a deep breath, using his spirit magic to make his voice sharp and clear, "You wouldn't be leading us into battle with a Dragon King without any plan, right?"
"If you regret it, you can still back out now," Principal Hilbert shook his head, showing no sign of having a plan at all, acting like he was just out to risk his life.
Fantastic. They didn't even have a plan and were about to fight a Dragon King to the death.
Is there anything more thrilling than this?
This is insane!
Caesar felt his nerves tingling, like he'd swallowed a huge dose of addictive drugs. His body was in an extremely heightened state of excitement.
Is there anything more thrilling than slaying a dragon king? No, nothing else! This is the kind of battle that makes a man's blood boil!
Kama Itachi used the air as a medium, quickly spreading across the battlefield. Two Desert Eagles were swiftly drawn, almost no aiming needed because Kama Itachi had already locked onto the target. His finger continuously pulled the trigger, emptying the entire magazine.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The Desert Eagles roared.
This shot was like a sprinter hearing the starting gun, officially marking the beginning of the 'dragon-slaying' battle.
Specially made alchemical bullets, propelled by gunpowder, lit up the night with dazzling sparks, spiraling through the air, heading toward the great being.
The spinning bullets flew at incredible speed but stopped just a few feet in front of Adam, as if they hit an invisible wall of air, quietly hovering in mid-air until they lost momentum and fell to the ground with a crisp clinking sound.
Word Soul: King's Blaze!
Chu Zihang's pupils blazed, and the temperature around him spiked.
Then, the ignited flames erupted like a massive dragon, carrying an incredible heatwave and shockwave, directly swallowing the area where Adam was.
Boom!
A violent explosion lifted a wave of air several meters high, rolling toward them like a tsunami.
The earth cracked under the intense heat, and the already withered trees were set on fire, turning the area into a sea of flames. The air trembled with unbearable waves of heat.
But the next second, the burning flames suddenly seemed to be pushed aside by some force.
Adam and Erii, who were in the center of the explosion, appeared completely isolated in another world, unaffected by King's Blaze in the slightest.
"Sure enough, bullets don't do much." Caesar, watching this scene, furrowed his brows so deeply that they almost formed a cross. "And even King's Blaze can be blocked. Is that the effect of the Word Soul: Pure City?"
"Setting fire in the forest will get you in jail, Chu Zihang."
Adam gently patted Erii's head, smiling softly. "It's dangerous here, Erii. Go wait for me somewhere else."
Erii shook her little head like a rattle, pouting and glaring at him with her red-jewel-like eyes, as if holding her breath.
"Good, be obedient."
Adam gently patted her soft hair and said, "It will end soon."
Hearing this, Erii looked at him with a face full of reluctance and sadness, as if she was afraid Adam might break his promise.
"Trust me, Erii," Adam spoke softly, then tapped her smooth forehead. "Go to a farther place. Once it's over, I'll find you. I swear."
In the end, Erii chose to trust him, lifting the hem of her miko robes, hopping and skipping as she walked down the mountain.
It's hard to say what others thought, but at least Gen Chisei breathed a sigh of relief. After all, if Erii insisted on getting involved, it would only make the already difficult 'dungeon' even more hellish.
"Alright, now we can begin."
After watching Erii walk away, Adam looked at the others and waved.
"I've been waiting for this!"
As soon as Hilbert spoke, she vanished from her spot.
Time Zero!
In this area where time was slowed down fifty times, the laws of physics no longer applied. In this domain, he was the only true god!
The Damascus-forged folding knife seemed to trace out a brilliant galaxy in an instant, with a sharp and fierce attack that felt like a storm descending on Adam.
Fast!
The slashing speed was pushed to the limit!
Even Hilbert's blade swing didn't disturb the airflow.
"Word Soul : Pure City."
After usurping the White King's authority, Adam decided to test the power of his spell.
A new domain opened. The air at the surface solidified, forming a crystalline wall, like an overturned jade bowl, protecting Adam inside.
Clang!
Hilbert's slash was forcefully blocked.
But she kept the Time Zero domain active, aiming for a single, lethal strike, hoping to at least force out his Dragon King form.
What shocked Hilbert was that, even though he was in the domain of zero time, Adam seemed unaffected. His gaze followed Hilbert's movements, and then a mental shock directly caused him to lose his balance, stumbling to the ground and rolling into a tree.
At that moment, Chu Zihang and Gen Chisei's blades almost reached him at the same time.
"Word Soul · Kingship!"
A massive gravitational wave fell like a mountain, suppressing Adam's movements.
Chu Zihang seized the opportunity, activating his second-degree blood rage, willing to do anything to increase his power. He swung his Murakumo sword with all his might. The speed and strength of the strike reached its peak!
"Fast, but still too slow."
Adam smiled and then directly grabbed the Murakumo sword with his bare hands, forcefully throwing Chu Zihang toward Gen Chisei.
Bang!
The two collided and were sent flying at the same time.
Caesar's pupils shrank, and then he saw Adam, almost like teleporting, suddenly appear in front of him with a gentle smile on his face. "Bite down hard."
Then, Caesar's face was struck with a punch so powerful that his bones seemed to crack.
His entire body was sent flying like he was hit by a train, landing several meters away, joining Chu Zihang and Gen Chisei.
"White King controls the mental element of the Dragon King."
Gen Chisei clutched his injured abdomen, struggling to stand up. His voice was heavy. "If nothing changes, he should be able to simulate the Word Souls of other Dragon King attributes."
"Hiss, does that mean..." Caesar's mind flashed with a terrifying thought.
Just then, the air became scorching hot, and the atmosphere turned dry. It felt as though every breath they took would burn their lungs.
"No way?"
Caesar, holding his bleeding nose, widened his eyes. "Are you kidding me? This guy's cheating!"
An invisible gravitational force suddenly descended, dragging everything around them, pulling them slowly toward Adam.
In the stunned eyes of everyone, a black corona suddenly appeared behind Adam.
That was Word Soul · Black Sun!
