Seung blinked, taken aback. Kim Eunji? The name struck him like an unexpected punch, leaving him off balance. He hadn't seen that coming.
"Eunji?" he echoed, trying to buy himself some time. He needed to think, to respond carefully, but his thoughts were in disarray.
Jiwon looked at him earnestly, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "It's her, isn't it? You like her."
Seung hesitated, unsure of how to respond. Did he like Eunji? It wasn't something he'd spent much time thinking about, and now that Jiwon had brought it up, he wasn't sure how to answer. His silence seemed to confirm her suspicions, and the atmosphere between them shifted.
Jiwon let out a bitter laugh, the tears now spilling freely. "I knew it. It's Eunji. That's why you're pushing me away, right?"
Seung shook his head quickly, trying to defuse the situation. "No, it's not about Eunji," he said firmly. "I don't... I don't feel that way about her. Or about you." His words felt heavy, final.
