Third Person POV

"You're finally here, come in, Mr. Snape."
Before Snape even touched the doorknob — the one he recognized from Steve's letter — the voice reached him.
Without a word, Snape stepped inside, catching sight of Steve at a distance, seated at his desk. It made Snape wonder how he had heard the voice, which seemed to have come from behind the door. Still, he said nothing and approached the investigator.
"You've finally arrived... and you look very different..." Steve narrowed his eyes, clearly observing Snape's dark aura, which seemed to be spiraling out of control.
"I'm being noticed by everyone I pass... I've had some problems with my magic," Snape replied.
"How is it that, all of a sudden, you're as powerful as the most powerful wizard alive?" Steve asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"If you're asking how I did it, I won't answer," Snape responded honestly.
"Haha. Fair enough. It's not like I'll die if I don't know, and frankly, I'm not that interested. Still, it's surprising to see you walking around with so much magical power. Either way... something tells me you need my help." Steve gave a small smile.
Snape sighed before nodding. "Yes... you can help me hide it. You know... I don't want to draw so much attention anymore," Snape admitted.
Steve's smile widened even more. "Of course. Why do you think I called you here?"
He stood up from his chair and went to one of his bookshelves, pulling out a book that seemed ordinary. The cover featured small angels, reminiscent of a Christian text from this world.
Steve opened the book, revealing a hollowed-out section inside. Nestled within was a small box, which he carefully removed before placing the book back on the shelf.
Snape raised an eyebrow in silence, observing the process.
"I didn't know you were Christian... I thought everyone in the wizarding world treated Merlin as their own kind of messiah, always invoking his name in disbelief."
Steve returned to his desk and sat down.
"Would you like some tea? Please, join me."
Snape sat, though his gaze remained fixed on the man in front of him.
"Everyone needs faith, Snape. Merlin was a mortal in this world. But do you believe in divine things beyond this world?"
Steve poured tea into both cups, one for himself and one for Snape.
"Yes... there are things beyond this world."
Snape — or rather, Morou Kaind — had his own faith in the Guardians and the teachings they had given to the Order, far removed from this planet.
"Then you understand what I'm talking about... You see, I've always believed in God, the creator of this world and everything in the universe," Steve began, sipping his tea.
Snape, surprised by the statement, remained silent. No one he knew had ever spoken of a god before. The wizarding world had its own explanations. But with people constantly invoking Merlin's name, Snape found it all rather foolish.
"Perhaps you're right, but I doubt you can answer this question..." Snape commented.
"You may be correct. But this is what I believe — until the end of my days. I've always looked up at the sky, marveling at the vastness of creation."
Steve took another sip of his tea, his expression contemplative.
"Are we here to talk about religious theories?" Snape muttered, irritated.
"We're not supposed to be. But I always think of a certain story when I see this ring..."
Steve's fingers gently touched the small box he had taken from the book.
"..."
Snape said nothing, his eyes drawn to the box as well — and to the "ring" Steve had mentioned.
"You must be curious. Let me tell you a secret. While God is the creator of all things, He also knew life needed protection. After all, He realized that men are flawed, and corruption and evil could destroy His creation. So, He created angels..."
Steve opened the box, revealing a simple silver ring with a few engraved symbols. At first glance, it appeared ordinary.
"Would you believe me if I told you this ring was crafted by an angel?" Steve asked.
"Angels have been here?"
Snape's mind filled with questions upon hearing that. He didn't know what to think, almost as if he wanted to ask whether the Guardians themselves — who bore a striking resemblance to angels from Christian religion — had ever visited this place.
"You could say yes. After all, there are some scriptures that say angels once visited worlds, trying to control corruption not only in this one but in many others... Fascinating, isn't it?" Steve said.
"..."
Snape remained silent, staring at the ring.
"That's quite the reaction from someone capable of casting a unique Patronus in the form of an angel..." Steve commented, as though he were analyzing Snape.
"What do you mean?"
Snape shifted his gaze from the ring to Steve, growing more wary. This man had seemed peculiar ever since their first contact.
"No offense... but it's very strange how a man with such a dark aura can create a Patronus in that shape," Steve said, noting the deathly energy coursing through Snape's body — energy the wizard still struggled to control.
"What do you want...?" Snape was losing patience with this line of conversation, feeling as though Steve was hinting at something deeper.
"As I said... don't take offense, Mr. Snape. It just reminds me of an ancient story about God's angels fighting against the nine demons... It's a very interesting tale. Would you like to hear it?" Steve asked, smiling again.
Snape said nothing, but a burst of dark energy erupted from his body. His piercing gaze fixed on the strange man, who seemed to be suggesting far too much. The story resembled too closely the secrets of the Order, making Snape wonder whether this man actually knew about them — which should be impossible for anyone from this world.
"Who are you?"
Snape's voice carried the weight of a command, his eyes glowing fiercely as dark energy radiated from him. The entire apartment seemed to tremble under the pressure.
"I am simply Steve Vujin, Mr. Snape. There's no need to be so tense over an old story that has always fascinated me," Steve said calmly, utterly unaffected by Snape's display of power. He didn't even flinch, meeting Snape's gaze with unsettling composure.
"..."
Snape did not lower his guard, glaring at him. The man's calm demeanor was disturbing. Even Count Dracula himself would have cowered in fear before Snape's current power. Yet Steve seemed entirely unfazed.
'Who is this man...?'
The question lingered in Snape's mind as Steve casually lifted his teacup and sipped, as if Snape's power was nothing more than a breeze in the room. Snape doubted he would get a straightforward answer.
"As I said, Mr. Snape. Just Steve," Steve replied, placing the cup back on the table. His response almost made it seem as though he had read Snape's thoughts.
Before Snape could respond, Steve pushed the small box containing the ring toward him. As soon as Snape touched it, the ring's engraved designs began to glow a soft blue.
"What you need is this ring... It can suppress your overwhelming power and cleanse your energy. But it won't work if your magic keeps leaking uncontrollably from your body. Those shadows around you make it obvious to anyone nearby. I recommend you train to control this power before appearing in public again," Steve explained.
Snape remained silent, still studying Steve with suspicion.
"What do you want in return?" Snape finally asked, knowing that such an item shouldn't even exist.
"Something simple..."
Steve leaned back slightly before speaking.
"I want you to end Voldemort when the war begins."
"You want that?" Snape frowned, scrutinizing him closely. "I thought you were neutral in this matter."
"I am neutral... But you don't have to be. Do you know how bad things will get for England when this war starts? I want you to end it when the time comes. I don't want this country to become what Voldemort and his ideology aim to turn it into," Steve said, his tone remaining composed.
Snape raised an eyebrow as his dark aura slowly began to calm.
"I was going to do that anyway..." Snape replied.
After all, he had no intention of letting this world fall into Voldemort's hands. Even if it was only temporary, Snape planned to eliminate Voldemort and his followers.
"That's excellent, then. Take the ring as a gift from me," Steve said with a pleased expression.
"This is far too suspicious. You seem to be playing games with me, Steve," Snape replied cautiously, keeping his eyes on him.
"Don't say that, you're hurting my feelings. But I won't answer every question you ask me. Either way, the ring is yours. It will be very useful right now, considering what everyone has seen..." Steve commented calmly.
"..."
Snape stared at the ring, wondering whether he should trust it. Who exactly was Steve? The way he spoke about the angels from that religion, it sounded as if he were referring to the Guardians. And mentioning the nine demons... it resembled too much the Nine Monarchs from the Order. It was all very strange.
But Snape said nothing and, in the end, picked up the ring. This man was odd and suspicious, but he didn't seem to be a liar. When the time was right, Snape would listen to what Steve had to say about all this.
Snape took the ring in his hand. It emitted a faint glow before the light faded entirely, leaving it as a cold metal. He slipped it onto his right hand, where it fit perfectly. Almost immediately, he felt its effects as the ring began to glow softly again.
"Can I control how much magic I'm emitting...?" Snape murmured, already feeling his newfound control over it.
"Yes... you have full control over how much energy you release. But remember to suppress your dark aura. People can still see it, even if they don't feel it at full strength. Either way, I'd recommend keeping your magical presence at the same level it was when you left Hogwarts. If you completely suppress your magic, even Dumbledore — who was at your house looking for you a few weeks ago — will notice something is off. And by the way, be careful. From what I've gathered, he'll be making a move against you soon," Steve said, clearly satisfied as he watched Snape adjust to the ring with ease.
Snape nodded, glancing down at the ring. He felt his magical output drop to a precise 190 while cutting off the excess energy. Now, he could increase or decrease it without worrying about people sensing him. No one would be as terrified as Professor Flitwick had been when Snape inadvertently surged his magical levels in the middle of a class.
"That's the obvious thing to do," Snape replied.
"Excellent. I have more information for you. Your relative will be looking for you as well. It seems you've become a threat to the Prince family. Your two uncles are currently seeking out Death Eaters in the hopes of joining them — as long as they help deal with you," Steve said.
Snape nodded again. "I've received a few letters from someone in that family... my grandfather's brother. But I'm still not sure what to make of it."
He had ignored the letters from the Prince family. He had no interest in dealing with them right now, as he was focused on his training and preparations to infiltrate Dracula's castle.
"I'll handle it myself. I can take care of anyone else. Don't worry about that," Snape said, unwilling to owe this strange man any more favors.
"Very well. Then I wish you the best of luck, Mr. Snape," Steve said, smiling faintly.
"You can use my fireplace. I know where you live, after all, and there's no need to hide that from me. It's much better than returning to Diagon Alley with this aura of yours. People are already talking, and the Aurors are currently searching for the 'Death Eater' walking around in broad daylight on that famous street," Steve added.
Snape didn't argue with him.
"Fine. Goodbye, and thank you," Snape said.
With that, he walked to the fireplace, took a handful of Floo Powder, and tossed it into the flames before stepping in and vanishing.
Steve remained seated the entire time, watching Snape leave. Once the room was empty, he finally spoke to himself, a thoughtful expression crossing his face.
"So, this is the one you chose, Ashborn? It was worth bringing this soul into this world, then."
There was no answer. It had been a question for himself.
Unbothered by the silence, Steve picked up his newspaper and began reading, unconcerned with anything else.
