Under Marvin's gaze, Turey carefully placed the grey-gleaming bead into his mouth. To his surprise, as soon as the bead entered, it dissolved into liquid and flowed into his innards, vanishing in an instant, integrating perfectly with Turey's soul.
The return of sensation and taste prompted Turey to draw out a dagger, making a light cut on his finger.
Blood gushed out. This time, it didn't heal; instead, the blood kept oozing, taking a long time to eventually clot.
"I'm back...."
Turey pursed his lips and raised his head to look at Marvin: "What kind of deal did you make with the Demon?"
"I did not strike any deals with them."
Turey looked disbelieving. Knowing full well the nature of Demons from his past dealings, how could they possibly call off the deal without any benefit?
Marvin must have paid a price, he just didn't want to mention it.
