Chapter 1 - Prologue

Please read the warning if you didn't already. This chapter is 1000 words, and yet it felt so long writing it *_*

————————————————————

The Underworld. An entirely different side of society full of crooks, thieves, and criminals coming from different parts of life. Even in a place like this there are rules you never break. Despite it all there is one rule that no one has broken and lived to tell the tale of.

Never. Never. Break a deal with the Dealer.

-3rd POV-

In the dead of night a black suv pulls up to a dark construction site dripping from recent rain. Slowly a man in a suit steps out before walking into the site taking quick looks around.

"Uh…hello?" The man's voice reverberated throughout the site, the sound of dripping water and passing cars swiftly drowning it out. "Excuse me I'm looking for the Dealer…" he repeated nervously.

Which who could blame him? The dealer was a big name in the underworld even if no one quite knew who he was. Always had different color hair, different color eyes, and it felt like thier personality could switch at the drop of a hat or so he's heard.

Not soon after his call another voice spoke back garbled through some digital filter "What are you interested in today?"

Straightening his back the man said a bit more confidently "I'm here for a bet! I would like to wager two-thousand dollars." Soon enough alongside distant tapping another person in a complete deep blue suit, green hair, high tech earpieces that would flash blue, and a gas mask on walks closer.

"What would youlike tobet?" Even through the filter his absolute tone of confidence was felt.

There it was in their iconic blue suit that earned them the name the "Blue Devil" he was certain this was the right guy. And easier looking a target than he hoped.

"My bet is…you're gonna die tonight!" He yelled Immediately pulling out a gun aiming at the dealer.

They looked at each other as he waited for the persons reaction. Tears, anger, or fear things he had seen countless times on the end of his gun. Even then the dealer just stared at him with the same expression.

"…Alright! So the deadline has been set for tonight. Thank you very much for your patrona-" Dashing behind a beam dodging the crooks shot.

"Dammit!" The crook followed after his target only to find nothing as if he had vanished into thin air. Hesitantly the man continued looking around with his finger on the trigger.

Reverberating through the empty site the dealers mechanical voice laughed "Do you think you are the first to try this? The only reason you're alive is simply because I'll need my money from your lost bet."

He clenched his hands around the gun before yelling out to nowhere in specific "You bastard! Show yourself!"

Silence filled the air before a pamphlet hit the ground behind him, making him instinctively fire.

"Read that." Said the Dealer as though he were stifling a laugh. Slowly but surely the man did as he was told picking up the papers and flipping through them.

-Adam Truesville-

Father of two twins, loving husband, and working for a massive corporation. Went to Cambridge academy as a child often getting into fights….

All of it was there. Written out onto paper better than he could remember it documents detailing his entire life. His family, his friends, his fears, and his dreams. Instantly Adam recognized the mistake in taking this job and why it was ever a rule to begin with.

"Come on Adam, be real with me. Why did you do this? You've got everything man why oh why would Adam a man who has never been about big gambles like this do a thing like this." Before he could even try to respond the voice rung out once more.

"Actually don't answer that…I don't wanna get attached." And just like that he caved. Adam fell to the floor quietly weeping for the next few hours until midnight with silence being his only response.

"Well Adam, time is up. You weren't able to kill me…sad. Cheer up though maybe next time you can try again." The dealer said cheerfully.

Feeling a cold chill in the air, Adam could feel the reaper's scythe on his neck.

"Adam, I don't hate you. So please tell me you have two-thousand dollars…" Adam winced at their words, and just slowly shook his head.

"At least your family will have your body to mourn. Goodbye Adam." Instantly through his teary eyes Adam could see a flash of the color blue, and in just a second his gun was swiped from the floor before everything went black.

-2 months later-

A lump of cover moves in a dark room, before a loud yawn sounded out. Coming from the covers a boy with sky blue eyes, bluish black hair, and pale skin that was no older than 14 strecthed.

Reaching clumsily for his headphones placing them over his ears. "Damn. I wonder how Ms. Truesville is doing." With those solemn words he suddenly stood up screaming to the top of his lungs.

"CERCI!" before instantly appearing at his bedside table fiddling with a tamagotchi shaped as an old model of the season one Digimon digivice.

After a full 10-15 minutes of caring for his pet the boy set it back down fulfilled before walking out of his bedroom.

With full furniture, game systems, and even expensive workout equipment it's clear that the house has been lived in for years, however not a single family photo could be seen. Silence permeating the house it was more like a cemetery.

"What should I do for breakfast…ah fuck it I know I'm just gonna make cereal." The boy exclaimed clearly ignorant to the strangeness of his home.

-1st POV-

'Wait this milk is weeks old…how long has it been since I opened my own fridge!' Laughing at my own ignorance I just walked over to the tv to turn on something random.

Minutes passed while I stared blankly at the screen. My smile fading every second.

"God…" I said letting out an exasperated breath.

"Why is life always so damn boring."
