The Emperor's visit to the foothills of Qiyun Mountain was so unexpected that the piled snow had not yet been cleared, making it impossible for the imperial carriage to pass through.
Eunuch Zhao looked at the mound of snow that resembled a small hill slope and worried, saying to the Emperor, "Your Majesty, the snow is too deep for the carriage to ascend the mountain. Please wait here for a moment as this old servant asks someone to go up Qiyun Mountain to see if there are any sedans available to carry you up."
The Emperor waved his hand, "I will walk up."
Eunuch Zhao quickly tried to dissuade him, "Your Majesty, that wouldn't be appropriate."
The Emperor huffed, "And why not? Haven't I learned to ride and shoot arrows from childhood? Why would a mere mountain path pose a difficulty for me?"
Eunuch Zhao closed his mouth.
The Emperor stepped down from the sedan and, after walking a few steps, casually pointed into the distance, "What are all those makeshift shelters over there?"
