Chapter 637 - Gained Fame

"Hey, today we need to make a few small changes to your shooting details."

That day, on the filming set, the assistant director summoned one of the relatively important supporting villains with an authoritative tone.

The villain quickly jogged over, his expression overly obsequious.

"Assistant director, are you giving me more screen time?"

He seemed somewhat pleased.

"More screen time? No, you're just swapping some scenes with Job."

"Uh?"

The person froze for a moment, not quite sure, and repeated, "Job? Are you sure?"

...

...

"Why wouldn't I be sure? This is my arrangement. Do you have any questions?"

"...No, no questions."

The assistant director tossed a new script at him, saying, "Here's your new script. Make sure to memorize it properly."

"Assistant director, why am I swapping scenes with Job? But... he..."

"Because Job's acting is better. The director and I agreed to give him more screen time as a reward for his hard work. I think you guys should learn from Job as well."

The person's expression immediately turned sour.

He was one of the people who had conspired to sabotage Job the day before.

They had already noticed that Job had some potential.

If they didn't suppress him, their own positions could be at risk.

Where there are people, there is always competition. It's a very simple rule.

However, even including him, no one had expected Job to be moved up so quickly.

Under normal circumstances, Job should have just been a way to gain favor with the director, and perhaps in later episodes, his scenes would be expanded.

But now, his role was being swapped out this quickly. This was too fast!

Of course, these concerns no longer mattered.

Now, there was one big problem: by swapping roles with Job, didn't that mean his position had suddenly been downgraded?

And didn't the places where they had set up to sabotage Job now become the places that would backfire on him?

He hurriedly flipped open his new script to see how much of his scenes overlapped with the scenes that were originally meant for Job.

And his expression turned even darker.

Almost entirely overlapping.

He realized that everything Job had done in the scenes before, he was now doing instead.

And Job had taken his lines and scenes, copying them directly. It was a simple, crude role reversal.

Job and this man weren't really crucial to the plot, so switching them around wasn't a big deal. It was more convenient.

But now that the switch had been made, it became a huge problem for this man.

He was frustrated, wishing he could go to the damaged props and fix them all immediately.

But it was too late now.

It was broad daylight, and there was no way he could fix the props in front of so many people.

So... what should he do now?

"Hey, hey, I heard that the assistant director swapped your lines and scenes with Job? What's going on?"

A few of the people who had conspired against Job the day before came running over. They were clearly surprised by the turn of events.

This man was fuming, gnashing his teeth. "Who knows what the hell happened? This guy was picked up by the director so quickly! This is totally abnormal."

"Yeah, it's abnormal. He rose too fast. He should have been noticed in the next episode, not this one."

They were all upset, clearly angry.

He suddenly said, "By the way, what about the plan we made yesterday to sabotage Job..."

Everyone fell silent for two seconds, then looked at him in unison.

He suddenly felt uneasy: "You guys aren't planning to throw me under the bus, are you?"

"Cough, of course not, but this might be inevitable. If it really..."

"You bastards, we were all in this together! Now you're going to leave me out to dry?"

The man was starting to panic.

The props they had destroyed were important. If damaged, filming could be delayed.

For the director, each day of the shoot was carefully planned. One accident could be enough to cause a headache. If multiple delays happened, extending the shooting by ten days or more, the director would surely want to tear apart the person responsible for the delay.

And they hadn't even thought about fixing the props—they had just wanted to ruin Job's reputation with the director.

But now, things had backfired, and one of the people who planned to sabotage Job was now facing the consequences himself.

"Look, don't worry. This is just a scene. We talked about it before. We're willing to privately compensate you a bit. You see..."

"You can't do this. If you do, I'll definitely expose everything about you!"

"Hey, come on, that's a bit too much. It's just a scene. You can still go to other sets to work. The impact won't be that big. But if you make a big fuss, don't blame us for being ruthless. You don't really think you can take on all of us, do you?"

The group of people who conspired against Job was now splitting apart, creating tension and division.

It was truly an unexpected turn of events.

The man was seething with anger.

He hadn't expected to be discarded so quickly.

These bastards!

Well, fine. If they're going to abandon me, don't blame me later.

While he still had a chance to speak with the assistant director, since he had previously treated him to a nice meal, he figured he could convince him to change a few small details in the script.

If I'm going down, I'm going down with everyone!

After getting their assurances, the group of people left, while the man watched them go with a ruthless expression.

Now, he wasn't worried about Job anymore.

That guy didn't matter anymore.

He was now focused on making sure these people understood the consequences of abandoning him.

Meanwhile, Job was basking in his good fortune.

He hadn't expected to gain more screen time.

Wait, let me check!

Job realized that all these good things were happening because of Metal Gear.

So, what exactly was it about this game that had such a big impact on the director? He needed to find out.

Even though the signal was bad, he was determined to look it up right away and see why this game was so influential.
