Chapter 632 - Just Like a Movie

Carson thought Metal Gear was an incredibly cool game.

Although he had died quite a few times.

But every time he successfully eliminated all the enemies on the map through stealthy assassinations, the sense of achievement was extremely satisfying.

Moreover, the game felt so realistic, as if such events were really happening.

The entire story of Metal Gear revolves around a nuclear weapon called Metal Gear, and the protagonist Snake uses various methods to infiltrate enemy territory and eliminate all the foes.

Another benefit of this game is its high entertainment value. Even people watching it from the side will find it visually appealing, as if they were watching a movie.

With Takayuki's upgrades to the game's graphics and the addition of the most powerful Unreal Engine, the game's performance was outstanding in terms of its presentation.

Even the process of playing felt like filming a movie.

...

In the original Metal Gear 1, the game was played from an overhead perspective.

This caused quite a stir at the time.

But from the perspective of modern players, it now feels a bit outdated, so Takayuki made some improvements.

There were many famous stealth games in later years, so without affecting the game's story progression, Takayuki modified the gameplay to make it more modern, changing the original overhead view to a third-person over-the-shoulder view.

This was considered the best perspective for an adventure game.

The third-person view allows players to feel more comfortable. Compared to first-person view, which may lack a bit of immersion, third-person view appeals to a larger audience.

First, the third-person perspective greatly reduces the likelihood of experiencing what is often called "3D motion sickness."

Even those watching the game will feel quite comfortable.

"Hey, hey, get out of the way! The enemy's about to turn around!"

"Hurry up and use the box! Hide in the box!"

"By the way, why is it that the soldiers completely ignore the box? It's so obviously out of place, anyone can tell."

"This is a game, understand? Do you really expect a game to be 100% realistic? Even movies can't do that."

"True, but still, the box thing is a bit too ridiculous."

"Probably just the game developers' quirky humor. It's harmless."

After two or three hours, a crowd had gathered behind Carson, intrigued by what was happening. Everyone had been curious about what was going on, so they came over to check it out.

Every time Carson successfully passed a level, the crowd would cheer and immediately ask the bartender to pour them some beers for a celebratory drink.

"Hey, son, I've got an idea."

The bar owner walked over to his son, a huge grin on his face.

In just a few hours, the bar's beverage sales had significantly increased.

Before, he always saw the game as just a way to calm down the bored troublemakers. As long as they stayed quiet, it was fine for them to play games, even if they didn't buy drinks.

But now that the game console had become a regular fixture in the bar, more and more people were getting interested.

The young bartender, his eyes still glued to the screen, tilted his head and said, "What's up, Dad?"

"Look, there are so many people interested in this video game. Shouldn't we buy a few more consoles so they can stay longer and spend more at our bar?"

The young bartender was taken aback for a moment, then a little excitedly said, "Dad, you finally got it! I've wanted to do this for a while!"

"Before, I didn't think much about it, but now it looks like there are quite a few people who like playing these games. I'm getting old and don't really understand what's so attractive about it."

"Heh, you're just out of touch, Dad. This is the most popular thing right now. Trust me, if we buy more consoles and set them up at the bar, it'll definitely attract more people to come here and drink!"

The young bartender started to mentally plan out all the games he could buy.

Before, when he wanted to buy a game, he had to be really frugal and consider which game was the most cost-effective.

But if his dad was willing to pay for a batch of consoles, then he could legally own more games.

He couldn't miss this opportunity!

He immediately started thinking about the many games he wanted to play.

Those games were a bit too expensive before, and since his salary was controlled by his dad, he could only play games very frugally.

But now, if he could convince his dad, the situation would be completely different.

The bar owner seemed quite tempted, but it wasn't because of his son's persuasion. He was more interested in the fact that the video game business had generated so much buzz.

After a little thought, he patted his son on the shoulder and said, "Alright, you handle it. Get some more equipment for the bar to attract more people to come and drink."

"Good job, Dad!"

...

In the United States, Abiston adjusted his glasses and squinted at the game disc case in his hand.

"Sir, if you're planning to get a gift for your grandson, this is absolutely worth it. It's the hottest game right now, and we sell out every time we restock."

His grandson's birthday was coming up.

As a grandfather, he definitely wanted to prepare a great gift.

Their family was upper-middle class, so the cost of a game wasn't a big deal.

Compared to the strange gifts his grandson had wanted before, the price of a video game was quite affordable.

And once he bought it, his grandson would be overjoyed and constantly praise his grandfather.

So, even if the game was a bit expensive, he wouldn't hesitate to buy it just to hear those sweet words from his grandson.

But... now he faced a dilemma.

Which game should he buy?

He was standing in the area for Su Rui Electronics, but originally, he had planned to go to the Gamestar Electronics section. However, he couldn't resist the overly enthusiastic salesperson here.

Meanwhile, the service at Gamestar Electronics wasn't as good.

Of course, this didn't mean that the service at Gamestar was bad—it was just that the place was so busy that the staff couldn't attend to everyone.

"Heroic Gunfighter?"

"That's right, sir, this is our latest release, top-quality. You can even check out our demo videos," the salesperson said with a big smile, pointing to a TV in the store.
