Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Andrew had no way of predicting what was about to occur. You see, Holly was quite the social princess. Not because she was well loved mind you, but quite the opposite. Her family had quite a lot of influence. Holly's father had helped the principal pay for his son's schooling, and also helped cover up an incident that most definitely would have gotten him fired. And in much the same way, Holly's parents had helped many in the community. To make an enemy out of one from the prestigious Vanderlile family was social suicide. And Holly knew this. But Andrew didn't quite understand the complete truth of the matter. When Andrew returned to school, things were a little bit different. He got into the cafeteria for lunch, running a little late like usual, and surprisingly there was a chocolate milk waiting for him. He took it and went to his table where he sat and ate in solitude.

"Hey, did you manage to get a chocolate milk?" Someone asked from behind Andrew's field of view. He turned around to see Thomson, the same jock that took his milk from him just yesterday, towering over him. Usually this would have felt quite imposing, but Thomson didn't seem to mean any harm today. He had a gentle look about him, which was really quite bizarre. He already had a carton of chocolate milk in his hand, so Andrew thought it unlikely that he'd try to take his.

"Umm…Yeah!" Andrew answered befuddled.

"Phew… Thank God. I got this one for you just in case you couldn't get one," he said holding up the carton, "Look I'm sorry about the other day… I feel… really bad."

Andrew was flabbergasted. At the very least, Thomson was trying his very best to seem sincere, but it felt so very off. There seemed no plausible explanation for why it would be genuine. Afterall, how unlikely is it that Thomson would have a change of heart this drastic in a single day? Word had spread. Someone had spotted Andrew and Holly out and about together. Some even tried to spread rumors (that happened to be true) about the types of things they might have gotten up to. However, the ones who started those rumors would quickly be thrown into a maelstrom of social scorn. To speak ill of a Vanderlile was enough to face the scorn of the public. At this point it became commonly known that Holly had taken pity on poor a Andrew and decided to make him an acquaintance, or maybe a pet. And a friend of a Vanderlile is exactly what you want to be.

After school Andrew was sauntering out the building when suddenly Marcus came sprinting up behind him at a breakneck pace.

"Hey, what's up?" Andrew asked, puzzled. Although, at this point there wasn't much that could have surprised him. Throughout the day Andrew was treated like a king by both students and teachers alike.

"I…" Marcus huffed trying to catch his breath. He wasn't a particularly good runner, "I have to tell you something!"

"What's up?" Andrew asked patiently.

"Jennifer Sunaton just asked me out!" Marcus yelled with a spark of joy erupting into a fire out of his throat.

"She did?!" Andrew asked astounded.

"Yeah, she said she thinks I'm super hot and asked if I wanna hang out… so, obviously I said I'm game!" Marcus cheered.

"That's awesome!" Andrew remarked.

"Not as awesome as what happened with you?! I heard you're in it with Holly Vanderlile!" Marcus said excitedly.

"Umm… not exactly. I mean… It's not official. Or at least.. I don't think it is?" At that moment a question crossed Andrew's mind. What was he to Holly? Something to cheer her up or a genuine partner?

"Did you guys…ya know? Like…Do it?" Marcus asked.

Andrew laughed, "umm… I probably shouldn't say."

"Oh my God. You totally did! I'm so jealous!" Marcus shouted.

"I probably wouldn't say that to Jennifer if I were you." Andrew said, laughing at his idiotic friend.

Andrew went home and plopped himself in the chair at his desk to do schoolwork. About an hour passed, when suddenly there was a ring of the doorbell. Andrew didn't hear it at first but then it rang again. And then again and again. He got up and went to his door to see who it was. He opened the door to see Holly standing there in a red dress, looking as cute as ever. Andrew went bright red in the cheeks.

"Oh… hi! I didn't expect you to come here!" Andrew said, scratching his hair nervously.

"You really should've!" Holly said, shoving her face in his. Her eyes meant business. They melted Andrew like snow in the summer heat.

"Andycakes, who's at the door?" Andrew's mother yelled from the second floor, embarrassing her son in the process.

"Andycakes?" Holly repeated with a devilish grin.

"Yeah… uh, don't worry about that… So…What are you here for?" Andrew asked.

"I'm here for you, silly!" Holly said, running her hand down Andrew's chest.

"I… I don't know if now's the time for that…my mom's still here and she's kind of old fashioned." Andrew said nervously. His heart was beating quickly, but he couldn't help his mind from wandering back to the events of last night.

"That's okay…" Holly said, giving Andrew a tiny kiss on the forehead, "I have something I need to talk to you about."

"What's up?" Andrew asked a little bit nervously.

"I'm sure you've already noticed how things have changed for you at school." Holly said with an alluring and devilish grin.

"Yeah. It's honestly kind of insane. I wouldn't have thought something like this would happen in a million years." Andrew replied.

"You should've known, really..." Holly said.

"Yeah, I suppose you're right." Andrew replied, "Thanks… it's been a big help. Both for me and my friends…"

"Right…those guys…" Holly said with a tinge of disgust on her tongue, "Anyway, I need to talk to you about something…"

"What's up?" Andrew said, puzzled.

"I need you now, Andrew… I need you more than anything…" Holly said, nuzzling her head into Andrew's neck, "I know you care about your friends… but I need your time… I'm going through a rough patch… and I need you more than they do. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

"What? That's not-"

"Please!" Holly begged with her warm body against Andrew's.

"I'll… think about it." Andrew said. And at that moment, Holly knew she had already won.
