JESSICA'S POV
"The king is back, since you're fully healed, you'll be transported back to the castle.'' My heart fell when the guard said those words. Today was my escape.
"I think we can wait on that. I've had a slight headache since morning and I wanted to get checked out.''
"Miss, please don't make this difficult. I operate under the Lycan King's orders. In his words, you can come by foot, or I can carry you out.''
Those very orders had also been given yesterday, and to which I kept making excuses and pretending to be in pain so the doctors tests would prolong my stay. Today, however, Jordan seemed to have dwindling patience. I had heard that he'd only just finished dealing with the council members not long ago. What was I to do?
I sighed, feeling defeated. I was going to make this work. Deep inside, however, I felt some sadness for leaving him. I didn't know why, but it felt like I was bonded to him. A bond I could explain. Was it because of the baby?
