The intensity was felt in the room. Their gazes met, but there were no sparks between them. One was completely serious, and the other was simply considering things.
"Why?" asked Isla.
"No one can find out that Matthew is no longer the Eternal Immortal. That's someone who should only be in your mind, my mind, and his mind. If it gets out of us, we could perish in a matter of hours."
The confidence and seriousness with which Charlotte said all this left no room for doubt. But Isla still did.
"Is it that serious? Although I know our enemies are powerful, I don't think the girls will reveal it..."
"You don't understand." Charlotte shook her head. "It's not about them not revealing it; it's about the less they know, the better. You doubt my words because you never saw the power of the Eternals firsthand, but they have the power to do whatever they want in this world."
