She had meant to check on him for a moment and then leave, but somehow, an hour had passed. An entire hour spent occasionally glancing at his face, watching his expressions shift in sleep as if he was lost in a dream.
She should have left. She should have walked out after making sure everything was fine. And yet, here she was, working in his hospital room instead of in her office.
Ridiculous.
Just as she was about to shake the thought away, a rustling sound came from the bed.
Jihoon stirred.
A small frown formed on his lips before his lashes fluttered open. His golden eyes blinked lazily as he adjusted to the dim lighting, and then, as if something struck him, a warm smile spread across his face.
Still groggy but feeling lighter, he turned his head to greet whoever was in the room.
"Wife."
His voice, husky and affectionate, broke the silence.
Ruby's pen stilled mid-stroke.
