Combat in reality—besieging a massive creature—is entirely different from fighting a boss in a game.
In games, facing a boss towering several meters or even dozens of meters tall, a top-tier main tank could rely on high-end gear and various damage reduction buffs to stand firm, using their mere seven-foot frame and a shield barely the size of a fingernail to the boss, blocking its attacks head-on.
With a good healer supporting from the rear, an main tank could even go toe-to-toe with the boss from start to finish, absorbing every attack without backing down.
However, reality is nothing like that.
Even against an enemy standing just four or five meters tall, their attacks, compared to a normally-sized human, would feel like a mountain crashing down—an unstoppable force.
A two- to threefold size difference translates to at least a tenfold mass disparity. The sheer force generated by such a difference is something even the most elite warriors wouldn't dare to withstand directly.
This is precisely why the Tauren are considered the strongest race in all of Azeroth when it comes to individual combat prowess.
And now, the warriors of the Alliance weren't just facing enemies two or three times their size; these enemies also wielded powers far beyond mortals—the power of the Loa gods.
The Loa, also referred to as demigods or Wild Gods, are among Azeroth's most powerful beings, second only to the guardian dragons.
They are extraordinary creatures, manifestations of raw life essence that has grown overwhelmingly potent. Most appear in animal forms, embodying primordial essence itself—in other words, they represent the very forces of nature and life in this world.
The trolls refer to them as Loa (though, according to their animistic beliefs, trolls may call other beings Loa as well, but these divine entities are the truest and most revered among them).
In Pandaria, they are known as Celestials, while the night elves refer to them as demigods—natural deities of immense power.
Originally, these demigods were merely native creatures of Azeroth.
However, they were fortunate enough to gain the favor of Freya, the Keeper of Life who wielded the power of creation itself. Blessed by her, they were granted immense strength.
As a result of this shared origin, these demigods also became connected to Ysera's Emerald Dream.
As the pinnacle of all living beings, the Loa gods, deeply revered by the trolls, possess true divinity.
Their power vastly exceeds that of mortals, which is why they have remained objects of troll worship for countless generations.
During the War of the Ancients ten thousand years ago, when the Burning Legion invaded, the Wild Gods decisively intervened.
Many of them unleashed their might in battle against the demons, though numerous Wild Gods also perished in the conflict.
Later, when the trolls waged war against the high elves and their formidable arcane magic, it was the power of the Loa that played a crucial role.
Without their influence weakening the effects of magic, the trolls would never have been able to suppress the high elves to the extent they once did.
Now, four trolls who had sealed away the power of the Loa were demonstrating to the Alliance warriors just how extraordinary that power truly was.
The divine energies of life and nature had granted them immense physical prowess and dominion over the elements.
The Windrunner sisters loosed arrow after arrow, their marksmanship flawless.
Yet, against these formidable trolls, who might as well have been avatars of death to lesser foes, their arrows barely amounted to a scratch.
The trolls' divine strength also granted them immense resistance to magic. The mages' attacks—fireballs, frostbolts, arcane missiles—all dissipated harmlessly upon impact, reduced to nothing but scattered elemental fragments.
As for the warriors, they were utterly outmatched, tumbling across the battlefield like ragdolls.
They dared not face the trolls' attacks head-on, relying instead on their agility to desperately dodge, searching for an opening to exploit.
There was no other choice—the divine power augmenting their enemies was simply overwhelming.
Even in terms of sheer size, these trolls already possessed strength beyond ordinary mortals.
But with divine power enhancing their abilities, they could unleash a force far exceeding what their bodies should allow—in other words, these were giants among giants, superhuman even by giant standards.
This was why they had managed to defeat the massive ten-meter-tall rock golem Alaric had summoned.
Seeing that ordinary spells were ineffective against these titans, Alaric swiftly changed his approach. Instead of acting as an offensive spellcaster, he switched to a supportive role.
First, he cast Mass Bear's Endurance, Mass Bull's Strength, and Mass Cat's Grace, significantly enhancing his allies' stamina, strength, and agility.
The difference was immediate. Shars and Sakxis, who had been barely dodging Nalorakk and Halazzi's attacks moments ago, now moved with much greater ease. Even when they failed to evade completely, they were no longer sent flying so effortlessly, nor left incapacitated from the impact.
Next, Alaric cast Mass Resist Elements, specifying resistance to wind and fire.
While it couldn't fully negate the effects of these elements, it at least allowed his allies to withstand the wind and flame attacks from Akil'zon and Jan'alai with far greater resilience.
Sure enough, under Akil'zon's raging winds and lightning, Kurdran, who was mounted on a gryphon, no longer needed to retreat as far. He could now barely hold his ground against the storm.
Meanwhile, Dawnslayer Lelora, tasked with containing Jan'alai, keenly felt that the flames spewed by the Dragonhawk God were no longer as scorching as before—or rather, that was merely an illusion.
In truth, the magic's enhancement simply allowed her to better endure the fire's searing heat.
This evident increase in their combat effectiveness left the warriors and rangers momentarily stunned. Their gazes instinctively turned toward Alaric, who had cast these spells.
It wasn't that they had never received magical support before. However, a mage capable of casting so many mass-enhancement spells in succession—with such potent effects—was exceedingly rare.
It was no surprise. Most mages lacked Alaric's exceptional talent, and even those with comparable potential seldom devoted themselves to learning such an array of support spells—especially large-scale support magic.
As one of the most powerful and prestigious professions, mages generally pursued wisdom and strength above all else. Few were willing to humble themselves and dedicate their skills to serving a group.
Most preferred to study spells that benefited them directly or bolstered their own magical prowess. As for auxiliary magic—particularly group buffs—most mages, at best, only learned spells like Arcane Brilliance.
They certainly had no interest in catering to "brutish warriors" (as many of them saw it).
Regardless, Alaric's magic had now allowed his teammates to barely hold their own against the four divine warriors. With that settled, he finally turned his focus toward Malacrass.
He had to find a way to disrupt the witch doctor's ritual.
That meant he had to break through the shadow energy barrier.
However, the shadow energy forming the barrier was sustained by the very same dark forces fueling the ritual—power drawn from the blood sacrifice of the Amani troll warriors.
The energy released by their deaths was immense. Even the mighty Loa gods were bound by such forces. For Alaric, breaking this ritual would be no easy task.
