Mrs. Johnson looked overwhelmed as she hastily received the flowers, with dew still on them, and their fragrance made her eyes a little acidic.
"Grandma, why are you crying?"
Lily Smith curiously looked at the red-eyed Mrs. Johnson and asked.
It was Lily's first time calling her "grandma," and Mrs. Johnson didn't know what to say at the moment, unable to stop her tears.
Right then, she felt immense regret. If she had realized earlier, how many more years of happiness could she have enjoyed?
She was truly foolish.
She had nearly ruined her son's life!
"It's nothing," Mrs. Johnson said, a bit flustered as she wiped her eyes and forced a smile at Lily. "Grandma is just too happy."
"Too happy?" Lily cocked her head, looking puzzled at Mrs. Johnson, but she quickly forgot about it and skipped off with the bouquet towards Amanda Smith.
Soon, laughter from the family of three filled the dining room.
