Chapter 91 - Salvation

Kiana POV

I halted at the edge of a ruined train station, eyes locked on the towering signal tower glowing in the distance—my destination, my mission.

The night wind whispered through the empty streets as I adjusted my hoodie, concealing my face in shadows. But I couldn't hide forever.

With a deep breath, I broke into a sprint—leaping up broken stairs, vaulting rails, and parkouring from rooftop to rooftop, every heartbeat echoing with purpose.

Then I felt it.

A low mechanical hum rolled through the air. One by one, the city's sleeping giants—the mechas—lit up, their sensors locking onto me.

"Tch... You wanna get in my way?"

I slid to a halt, pulling a sleek, void-forged baseball bat from the wormhole. My hoodie slipped from my shoulders, revealing the shine of my familiar battlesuit beneath.

I dashed forward without hesitation.

"I don't have time... for your little games!"

Twirling the bat with a defiant grin, I launched myself off a crane hook, boosting into the air with a zipline wire and slicing through the wind like an arrow under the moonlight.

A missile shrieked toward me—too slow. One swing of my bat, and it ricocheted away with a satisfying clang.

Three more mechas locked on and unleashed a storm of rockets. I twisted midair, flipped, ducked, spun—slipping through the chaos with every ounce of grace my training and instincts allowed. Each time I landed, I smashed a mecha to scrap without slowing down.

I leapt again—an explosion behind me illuminating the sky—but I landed cleanly, pressing on. More mechas dropped in, forming a perimeter. Their sights fixed on me. Missiles, bullets, blinding lights.

They thought they could cage me.

I turned the chaos into my weapon—dodging between alley walls, sprinting up slanted rooftops, diving into narrow gaps. Every movement had a purpose.

I spotted a swinging rope from a ruined scaffold. Without breaking stride, I grabbed it and hurled myself forward—

Straight into a storm of bullets.

One mecha's minigun opened fire.

I deflected every shot with a blur of bat spins, each spark lighting my path.

Then, in one fluid motion, I hurled my bat—a direct hit.

The minigun exploded in a burst of fire and metal.

I landed in front of it and drove my heel straight into its chest, sending the machine staggering backward.

"I'm not stopping. Not tonight. Not until this city is safe."

Kiana clenched her fists as the mecha lunged at her, its red-lit optics flaring with aggression. She met its charge with her signature paw strikes.

But the mecha adapted. Its systems recalibrated, shifting into a more advanced mode. Lights flashed red across its chassis, and with a surge of energy, it began to overpower her, blow by blow.

Kiana gritted her teeth, eyes sharp.

Then—it wound up its arm, energy pulsating at its core, preparing to unleash a devastating strike.

"Not today," she whispered.

Her left eye flared with a violet glow—the power of the void.

With a flick of her wrist, a wormhole burst into life in front of her. The mecha's massive fist plunged through it—only to erupt out from behind itself.

The strike hit its own back.

Sparks exploded. Circuits fried. The machine staggered, its systems glitching.

It fell.

Metal screamed against concrete as the mecha plummeted from the rooftop—but just before it hit the ground, it unleashed one final act of defiance:

A barrage of missiles arced toward Kiana like burning comets.

She gasped, caught off guard.

Then—time slowed.

Her Herrscher aura surged, freezing the area in an instant.

Her Herrscher aura surged, freezing the world in an instant.

Kiana stepped forward, gently landing atop one of the suspended missiles. Then another. And another.

She moved like a dancer in the sky, gliding up the cascade of frozen weapons, light glinting off her silver hair.

And then—

Time resumed.

A storm of fire and heat burst below her, the missiles exploding in a wave of brilliant light. But Kiana was already in the air

Suspended above the carnage, her silhouette was framed by the flames and embers drifting upward like fireflies.

Kiana landed gracefully amid the smoke and fading embers, the ground cracking slightly beneath her boots. Her breath came in steady, focused rhythms as she rubbed the soot off her cheek with the back of her hand.

She breathed slowly, calmly—gaze locked on the tower ahead.

Ahead, through the debris and ruined framework of the rooftop, she spotted it.

A metallic capsule embedded in the floor, pulsing with a dark glow—the bomb.

Kiana dashed forward, "This is it..." she whispered, voice low but steady. "I must defuse the bomb now."

But the moment she crossed into its radius, her body froze.

The Honkai energy surged out in violent, spiraling waves—vivid, twisted tendrils of violet light that danced and lashed like wild spirits. Her body tensed as the oppressive force clashed with her Herrscher aura.

The room trembled. Her braids fluttered as the swirling force surrounded her like a storm.

Kiana raised her arm to shield her face, teeth gritted.

"The Honkai energy is... incredible!"

As soon as she tried making eye contact with it—

the ominous core pulsing beneath its surface, crackling with unstable power—

Her Void Eye flickered. The air around her snapped with violet lightning.

It felt like her entire body was set ablaze from within. Her lungs begged for breath, her skin screamed in pain—

But she kept going.

Her hand, trembling, reached the surface of the bomb—

and in that instant—

Her right eye ignited, mirroring the first.

A second Void Eye.

Her entire body jolted—

Electricity surged through every nerve, tearing through her like a thousand jagged needles. Her scream never left her throat, clenched behind gritted teeth.

And then—

a surge.

Her body began to radiate—

not just from her eyes, but from deep within her veins. Luminous lines of Honkai circuitry carved across her flesh, pulsing like divine runes. Her existence itself...

was being rewritten.

A voice broke through the storm.

Soft. Familiar. Warm.

"Kiana..."

She gasped, her head whipping to the side—

And there he was.

"Shin!"

He smiled, calm in the chaos.

"Told you I'd come back for you."

Her eyes filled with hope, tears balancing on the edge of her lashes.

"Yeah... I knew you'd come... I promised you... that—"

Together—Kiana and Shin grasped the bomb.

"Yeah..."

"We will..."

"SHAPE THIS WRETCHED WORLD INTO WHAT WE'VE ALWAYS WANTED!"

With a roar of power and purpose, they pushed the bomb skyward.

Kiana's eyes blazed—shifting fully into the Herrscher of the Void, radiant blue flaring like twin galaxies.

Shin's own body transformed—the Herrscher of Blades, his battlesuit flowing into hues of purple and black, edged in molten steel.

"Shin!"

"Yeah! Push it!"

Kiana's powers flared—telekinetic waves driving the bomb upwards.

And then—Shin drew his Demon Sword, now engulfed in ethereal flame.

He slashed—

Cherry Blossom in Full Bloom!

The sky erupted in pink light as an illusion of a sakura tree bloomed above them, petals scattering across the heavens.

And then—

CUT.

While the bystanders gazed at the night sky, they marveled at the light above.

They thought it was a star—

A miracle.

And from the heavens, gentle petals of sakura rained down like blessings, casting the city in a dreamlike glow.

Then—

The bomb exploded.

A silent flash.

A shockwave of shimmering violet and silver pulsed through the air.

"Shin!"

Kiana's voice tore through the wind as she reached for him.

The blast had pushed them apart—but only for a second.

Her hand found his.

Kiana pulled him into a tight embrace mid-fall, holding him like the world might take him away again.

Shin's arms wrapped around her just as tightly.

And then—

With a flick of his fingers, several spectral swords formed beneath them, shining with soft purple light.

They slowed their descent—

One blade at a time, a glowing staircase back to Earth.

Their boots touched the rooftop of a quiet building.

And Kiana—

She never let go.

Shin held her close, resting his chin against her shoulder.

Her warmth, her heartbeat—real, alive.

Kiana trembled.

But not from fear.

From relief.

They had done it.

Shin pulled away slightly, just enough to look into her eyes.

She followed his gaze as he looked up at the sky—

The stars, no longer obscured by chaos, glistened like silver embers.

The moon hung above Arc City, a silent guardian over a fragile peace.

For a moment, time stood still.

The world could wait.

Right now—

It was just the two of them.

"Kiana."

She turned to him, her eyes catching the glimmer of the stars. "Yeah?"

He didn't immediately answer, his gaze lingering on the moon as it hung like a pale pearl in the sky. He let the silence stretch between them, the weight of unspoken words heavy in the air. Then, his lips curled into a soft smile. "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?"

Kiana's eyes followed his, the distant light seeming to soften her features. She swallowed a sudden lump in her throat, a flutter of warmth stirring in her chest. "Yes... it is... almost as beautiful as the person I'm with..."

Her words hung there, like a tender confession, and before Shin could say another word, she closed the distance between them. The world around them seemed to fade, leaving only the echo of their heartbeats as their lips met.
