Princess Consort of Anyang felt sorry for An Shuli and originally wanted to take his hand and ask how he had become so busy these days, but seeing him too tired to keep his eyes open, she couldn't bear to disturb him with conversation and instead dragged him to her own courtyard to rest.
An Shuli's living quarters in the Anyang residence were secluded and required a long walk, nowhere near as close as the Princess Consort of Anyang's courtyard.
So An Shuli let his mother lead him to her courtyard and was pushed onto a warm kang bed by her.
An Shuli went with the flow, thinking it would be fine to rest in the residence for a while before heading to the Eastern Palace, so he lay down on the kang bed and fell asleep immediately. But before he did, he still told his mother to wake him up after an hour.
