"Kiara, you know death is like a lamp going out—"
"Why are you bringing THAT up?"
Just as expected, the moment Kiara heard the word 'death,' she became unhappy, her face instantly darkening.
"It's something we can't avoid. When people turn to ashes, all they leave behind is their spirit. Dad's sick now and doesn't have any other wishes, just wants to see you grow up strong."
Kiara's teeth ached from the sappiness, "Where did you learn these lines, from some melodramatic soap opera?"
Cough cough, caught out, Yuzo Joel felt a little guilty.
"Where they come from isn't important, what's important is that you understand the spirit behind them."
"I'm not going anywhere."
"What good will staying by my side do? Life and death are predestined, you'd be better off helping Dad fulfill his uncompleted wishes. Maybe if I'm happy, my illness will be easier to control."
The logic was sound, but Kiara simply didn't want to leave.
